Freaky Thrower Strength
I threw in college (as I know some others here did as well) and am a bit of a throws junkie and haven't seen any threads here specific to throwing, so figured I would start one, especially with some crazy lifting videos a couple American guys have posted over the past couple days.
Ryan Crouser: olympic gold medalist and olympic record holder in the shot put with a 140k hip snatch @2.75 m/s
Curt Jensen: american shot putter and freaky strong, 790lbs x8 Hatfield Squat

Looks like @SeanHerbison might need to defend his bounce-catch title.JaJL wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2019 6:08 pm I threw in college (as I know some others here did as well) and am a bit of a throws junkie and haven't seen any threads here specific to throwing, so figured I would start one, especially with some crazy lifting videos a couple American guys have posted over the past couple days.

Yeah, I showed that to Hanley yesterday. It's insane. My catch was heavier, but my movement was far less impressive.
Here's Cantwell.

Re: Freaky Thrower Strength
I'll grant you, it's a lot of weight.
Either he has really odd pec development or he has a small trampoline inside his shirt. He appears to have combined the bench press with the hip thrust to make a great full body movement.
Still I guess he can do what he likes.

True, but most throwers bench like that.chrisd wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2019 2:06 am I'll grant you, it's a lot of weight.

Dunno the reason. Proper tng bench press seems like a better way to bench, especially injury wise. Maybe throwers think full body bounce bench is better for explosivness?

Re: Freaky Thrower Strength
I guess my super strict benching style is why I never excelled at shot put.

Re: Freaky Thrower Strength
No, I get the releasers (eccentric overload) and bands (accommodating resistance), just not the combo. It struck me as being redundant. I now see that this is a fairly common setup. 'Way out of my bailiwick.

Re: Freaky Thrower Strength
I don't know? heavy overload that 1st eccentric to "excite" the CNS? then do successively fast reps with a lighter weight against the bands for power.
Post Activation Potentiation Training.
i.e. do something heavy that recruits a bunch of mu's, but not get tired, then quickly do something lighter ... feelz light / go balls out.
yeah, it seems he's admits experimenting / making shit up on the flyChasingCurls69 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 5:04 pm Even if it's common, that caption made me want to kill myself like halfway through.
