Re: Hanley's Log
Fake news. The real Mr. Hanley would have pictures of power tools, well manicured lawns, Knipex pliers, and density blocks.

Re: Hanley's Log
I did those paused deadlifts the other day.. 425x3x5 @7 with a 2ct pause timed by a metronome.. very fatiguing.

Re: Hanley's Log
I somehow tweaked my back/si joint on those motherfucking hexbar deads. I don't think I've ever so much as strained a muscle on the many hundreds of conventional deadlift reps I've , but this is the third time I've tweaked my back using a hexbar.
If they're too fatiguing, maybe just switch to lighter deads using the approach Lakshmi mentioned in her facebook post?tdood wrote:I did those paused deadlifts the other day.. 425x3x5 @7 with a 2ct pause timed by a metronome.. very fatiguing.

Re: Hanley's Log
That makes sense to me, kind of. Seems like a hex bar might allow more weebl-woobl than having the bar against your body for the whole lift?Hanley wrote:I somehow tweaked my back/si joint on those motherfucking hexbar deads. Nah, more like, fuck picking up 4-5 plates in an unstable configuration that wants to swing around. Especially if it has a history of tweaking your back. Manley men don't do stupid shit like lifts that have a high chance of injuring them. Or doing stupid shit because it's what manly men do.Lmeadows wrote:Fuck Hex Bars...pull conventional from a stiff bar with sharp knurling like the motherfucking man you areOCG wrote:Yeah, fuck hex bars, they're way less stable.

Re: Hanley's Log
Quick question:
Is the set "motherfucking men" a subset of "manly men" or vice versa?
This is all so very compelling.

It is the set of all sets that is itself not a member of said set, or something like that. Hopefully it has nothing to do with mothers.Hanley wrote:Quick question:

I'm so manly that I will openly cry thinking about Bertrand Russell, his life and his paradoxes.KarlM wrote:It is the set of all sets that is itself not a member of said set, or something like that. Hopefully it has nothing to do with mothers.Hanley wrote:Quick question:

Gordel's incompleteness theorem must have been devastating. (Sorry no umlat, haven't figured that out yet.)

No, no: my tears are tears of joy! I find limits to logical systems and processes...freeing. And cool.KarlM wrote:Gordel's incompleteness theorem must have been devastating. (Sorry no umlat, haven't figured that out yet.)

Re: Hanley's Log
In all seriousness, I find that position admirable. It makes me uncomfortable to know there are things that are true that we can't go ahead and prove. Existentially uncomfortable.Hanley wrote:No, no: my tears are tears of joy! I find limits to logical systems and processes...freeing.
