I won't ask the one about what if you're a vegan.
I like doing LISS twice a week now on my non-lifting days... which is most days these days.
Is this before or after doing NESS protocol?
You can do a superset to save time.
As long as you remember to KISS.

There's no way prowler can be thought of as light or medium squat can it?

And a light, static press as well!

Is a static press a strict press, or isometric pressing against pins?

Triple layback press. Except forward. Against moving pins.

To practice getting into and maintaining the position of massive lumbar hyperextension required of 3.0, I have clients lean waaaaay fucking backward and push the prowler that way. It looks sorta like the stair-scene from The Exorcist.

Hey unruh, great post! Thanks for laying that out so well. And you too, Hanley, very insightful.

Somewhat unrelated, but I found out about this place by reading between the lines on the Other forum. I was wondering if it was just me feeling uncomfortable over there. I rarely posted anyway. I still follow Andy and Jordan's presence, but I'm encouraged to see so many consistent quality posters migrated. Interesting times....

Welcome aboard! I joined the StartingStrength forum in 2010. In 7 years I only accumulated 179 posts. I've been here for only a few months and am currently at >500. Go figure.

No. Even the lightest squat variations should contribute to hip and knee extensor hypertrophy or strength (or improve isometric bracing of the trunk).

I’d guess the prowler does none of those things for someone with more than 3-4 months of lifting experience.

Is it possible to make the same load feel Heavy, Light, or Medium by managing fatigue differently?

For example:

Load ~80% 1RM
Sets x Reps
Rest between sets

Heavy
4x6
Five minutes

Light
8x3
Two minutes

Medium
6x4
Three minutes

Certainly. I don't really like the heavy, light, medium nomenclature. Do those words refer to relative intensity or stress-level?

Does my example seem workable?

Not for me. I'd die. 72 reps at 80% in 96 within 96 hours? [shudder]

Try being weaker.
