Those deadlifts looked like they could even be under an 8 RPE. You were still really fast on that third rep.

I have the same issue with wraps. The first rep is usually higher than the next ones. It is harder to feel it out like you said. But looking at your most recent 585x1, the depth looks like it is there.

I'm not worried about 600 at all. I'm hunting 635.

I filmed that from the side too - no doubt I hit depth. It's definitely hard to tell while you're in the act of squatting though. And yeah, lots of folks said @7-7.5 also. Either way, I'm on track to hit my goals.

Deadlift: 545x1
Bench: 355x1

This wasn't the plan, but everything felt heavy and slow, even the warm-ups. Fatigue is too high since I've been sick.

Doc did Rx me a different antibiotic since the first one didn't do the job. This has me on the mend, but being sick for this long has compromised recovery apparently.

Hopefully I'll be in a good place for a heavy, low volume session come Tuesday.

Deadlift: 600x1
Bench: 375x1
Squat: 500x1

Last heavy session. Deadlift is looking good. Bench still feels weak, no way I'm hitting 405 unless the stars align. Knee wasn't stoked for squats, that will be the wild card.

Also, still losing weight from this sickness. Down to 213lbs - I've just got no appetite.

Super light day
Deadlift: 315x5
Bench: 225x5
Leg press: 505x5

Not sure if I'll do anything Tuesday (like work up to openers or something) or not. I have never peaked for a meet before and I'm sure I'm doing it wrong, lol!

Haha! No. In training, deadlifts take me very little time to warm up while squats take a while because of my knees. If I train deadlift first it has me warmed up for squats already, if I go in competition order, it makes my training session longer.

Worked up to some stupid, retardedly easy singles since I had to be in the garage with Andrew anyway to work up to his openers or final warm-ups, depending on how his day is going.

Squat (sleeves): 405
Bench: 275
Deadlift: 455

May i ask who is Andrew?
My first guess is you wouldn't have a son old enough to be competing.
But maybe lifting just keeps you looking young.

Haha! No, my kids are 2 and 3 (nearly 4!). Andrew is my good friend who sometimes trains with me. He's been fairly consistent at coming over 1x/week for the past 3 months or so. He has a school gym and a commercial gym closer to where he lives, but he likes for me to coach him on the power lifts.

I coached him up to some decent numbers a while ago, but he went on an aesthetics kick and wanted to be super shredded and lost a lot of strength and size. Looked good, but had to work to build him back up. We should have him in the mid 1200s total come Saturday.

If you swipe on these videos, you'll see him.

Meet day! 6/9 because I'm really really bad at being objective about my own performance...

Squat: 567/600/617
Bench: 353/365/385
Deadlift: 562/600/620

1565 total, 218 bodyweight, 434 wilks.

So I was waaaaaay off my gym PRs and my meet goals on bench and deadlift. Being sick for a month straight and dropping 14 lbs in two weeks was rough on my training and prep leading up to the meet. Apparently I peaked incorrectly too.

It's weird because I had Andrew peaked perfectly, I called every one of his 3rd attempts within 5 lbs a MONTH ago, and he set huge PRs. Meanwhile, I didn't perform at all. I definitely learned a lot from this. Like, a big thing is eating on meet day. I had half my breakfast, two taquitos from QT, and a monster as the entirety of my food today despite not starting lifting until nearly 3and having brought food and water. By the time deadlifts rolled around I could tell I hadn't eaten, but it was too late to do anything.

I really wish I had a coach to be objective about my training and all for me. Like, I'm clearly not weak, but I feel like my lack of objectivity about myself held me back from performing like I'm capable of.

Either way, I had an absolute blast! Alex Kennedy was a super gracious host for opening his gym Atlanta Barbell to us after hours to lift and broke out the comp plates and everything. It was awesome lifting with friends and hanging out with members from here and the ss forums, picking up heavy shit with them, and talking about picking up heavy shit with them.

I'm for sure going to compete again in 2018 and I'll break 1600 for sure. I'd really like to get 1674to total "elite". It's my new long term goal.

There is nothing wrong with going for it and being aggressive. It means you have a pair. Nice total

Good job Cody. Too bad you didn't hit the total you were hoping for but those are still awesome numbers.
