Re: Safety Squat Bars
I ordered a Titan V2 SSB in early June and I'm still waiting on it. They did send me a bar but it got "damaged" in transit according to FedEx, which left me wondering how bad you can possibly fuck up a boxed barbell. In any case it went back to Titan and they told me they'd send one out in July when they restock, now it's August. Not thrilled with this company...

FedEx can and will destroy Titan packed products. It is partly Titan's fault for doing a shitty job with packing/packaging but FedEx also seems to take perverse joy in destroying heavy boxes.

They are offering 3 different handles including the EliteFts & Edge Fitness styles; the bar sold out instantly of course.

Re: Safety Squat Bars
Does this new BOS version fix the camber drop? The previous version pissed off a lot of people for being too short. The start of the camber drop began in the middle of the J Cups and resulted in folding in J Cups.
BOS soured me on how they dealt with their COVID restock so I'm going with https://athlosfitness.ca/bronson-safety-squat-bar.html when I get one.

I must say, I was pretty critical of Kabuki for their yolk, and actually, some of it was well deserved. What they were using for their padding before was borderline criminal for the price they were charging. That said, dealing with their CS was a breeze. I showed them a picture, told them what I thought of it, they apologized and sent me the new padding and vinyl same day I sent the email. They also assured me that the new padding would take care of the issue and I wasn't hopeful of that, but I'm here to say that it has fixed about 85% of the yolk problems. I also want to say that throwing in the new vinyl logo cover was a really nice touch, and I want to give them praise when I think they deserve it.

Yeah, I spoke with someone else and they had a rack destroyed during shipping by FedEx as well. Titan kind of sucked even in a pre-COVID world so it shouldn't be a surprise.bobmen10000 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 8:48 am FedEx can and will destroy Titan packed products. Re: Safety Squat Bars
Prime is releasing this monstrosity:
Adjusting the angle from the yoke is a cool idea but I don’t see any great advantage unless you want to change positions between sets. It would make it easier to try out the different positions but once you figure out the bar most people probably aren’t going to train that way. Meanwhile it’s huge and doesn’t look like it would fit on a gun rack.
The bare metal “back plate” is a bold choice... they claim it’s way more comfortable because of how it distributes the weight. Even if that’s true I think they probably should have put at least a thin layer of padding/vinyl over it because it definitely *looks* uncomfortable compared to other SSBs.
Front handles flaring out to clear legs seems like it might be nice but not sure if it will accommodate all squat styles equally well and it also contributes to the hugeness.

What’s the weight on this contraption? It looks heavy and ungainly.TimK wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 6:12 am Prime is releasing this monstrosity:

The dudes in the video are barely squatting any plate weight. That doesn’t instill much confidence in their claims of comfort nor the build quality of the adjustment mechanism.

As manufacturing becomes easier, cheaper, and more readily available due to technology .....

Re: Safety Squat Bars
lolz, watched it a 3rd time....
....didn't catch the guy squatting with reverse banded set up in the first frame.
....and in the last one, I think he's standing on some huge wedges (heels up).
Much complicated. So fancy.

Yeah, it looks like it would weigh 80lbs.

Re: Safety Squat Bars
The EliteFTS Spider bar weighs ~80 pounds. The Edge Spider bar weighs ~45 pounds. Both of them hold up to some pretty heavy weights. Prime is one of the higher tier equipment makers out there, so I'm not too worried about build quality. Whether it's necessary or better than a Transformer bar is a matter of debate, but since it's Prime I'll assume it will be priced quite proudly. Duffin already had a drive-by comment about patents, so it'll be interesting to see where this goes.

Re: Safety Squat Bars
I’m sure it’s sturdy, but again, those videos are lame.
I am absolutely not convinced about the square plate across the traps as being okay. It might be, however, those dudes weren’t squatting much.

Re: Safety Squat Bars
My guess is that it probably feels fine... it would be pretty stupid to release it knowing that it's uncomfortable and without having someone test it at heavy weights... I mean, Coop would probably still struggle to actually criticize it, but people would figure out pretty quickly that it sucks to use. My issue is more that it seems to be a bullshit gimmick to solve a problem that doesn't exist.
"Relieves spinal pressure from the neck and redistributes the load to the thoracic spine..." LOL ok.
A lot of Prime's stuff seems to be marketed this way though.
I bet it feels ok to use but the perception that it must suck because it's not padded ends up hindering sales.

Re: Safety Squat Bars
The Primal bar looks like a Marrs & Kabuki Transformer Bar hybrid. I really want to try a marrs bar. Don't want to spend $750.00 to get it and I imagine the Primal bar will be $800.00 to $1200.00 so that is a no too.

Re: Safety Squat Bars
I got the Titan Safety Squat bar.
Not as fancy as other brands.
Working well for me so far though.
