Re: Favorite peanut butter. Discuss.
I remember when I studied in France, "junky" American peanut butter was the #1 product American students would ask people visiting them from the US to bring in their suitcases. We could buy it at ridiculously inflated prices at ONE special ex-pat shop in Paris. Or we could eat various European versions that resembled natural peanut butters but were grossly inadequate to people who had grown up on American peanut butter (Dutch pindakaas, I'm looking at you).
Also, American cheddar cheese for the making of proper mac & cheese. But that's another thread.

It’s funny how yuppies and hipsters are all like, “I don’t eat that crappy American processed peanut butter, only all-natural non-GMO organic for me thx!” then all like, “oh my gods Nutella. is. the. best. thing. ever.”
Enjoy your sweetened palm oil, hypocrites. Now let me enjoy my JIF in peace.

It's more about texture and flavor. The really sweet brands like Jif, etc. are not my favorites, although I'll still eat them over natural peanut butters. Skippy's my preferred because it's less sweet than the others. If I really want sweet peanut butter, I'll just add honey or maple syrup or something.
I get that natural peanut butters, if they're freshly made, have a nice robust true peanut flavor, but, to me, standard American peanut butter is just a separate food, a unique thing that I don't judge by how close it is to actual peanuts. If I want something that tastes exactly like peanuts, I'll just eat peanuts.

I did not realize the shells were even edible. Are you sure the shells are edible?

When we took my brother in law out for his 21st birthday he ate a ton of peanuts with shells because he was so hammered. I’ve made fun of him about this for years.
Now you’re telling me it’s not only okay, but also a new avenue for fiber consumption?!?!

Doesn't eating peanuts in this manner get your macho mustache dirty/dusty? For the record, I have never met or heard of anyone (besides a 2 year old) who ate peanut shells. #mindblown

Of course not, the whole peanut goes in my my mouth, I chew it up real good, and swallow. No mess, which is the point.AaronM wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2018 8:55 amDoesn't eating peanuts in this manner get your macho mustache dirty/dusty? As far as I know the shells are edible, although they may not be easy to digest.

I'm not going to say you're going to get a bezoar. But I'm not saying you're not going to get a bezoar.
