Ohio Deadlift Bar Review
I wrote another review for the Adamant Barbell blog, this time on the Rogue Deadlift Bar. Click it and read to find out if using a deadlift bar is cheating or not, what the advantages are to a deadlift bar, and whether the best buy is the Ohio Deadlift Bar, the Texas Deadlift Bar, or the Okie Deadlift Bar!

Re: Ohio Deadlift Bar Review
Thanks Cody, great info. I have an Okie and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I was highly annoyed when I pulled it out of the shipping tube and it was still covered in oil and metal shavings. I had to spend about an hour with alcohol and a bristle brush to get it clean.
The Okie is a good bar, but the construction is outdated compared to the Ohio.
P.S. I'm going to miss that sweet avatar.

Nice. I didn't know those details about knurling. I guess that's one more item on my "never actually going to buy but want" list. Also known as the "when I win the lottery" list.

(I was irritated every time I visited the site until late Wednesday, when I finally came to grips with the loss. I still owe my brother $10 from that game...)

Re: Ohio Deadlift Bar Review
Knurling is easily the most fascinating part of a barbell. I like the fully formed knurl if the bar uses a very fine pattern, but the big, deep, aggressive patterns are infinitely improved with the craters.

I feel quite lucky to have "met" idlehands right when i started lifting, and that he was able to guide me to The Ohio Power Bar.
Once i got it, i realised that the knurling on the Dick's Sporting Goods special i had was merely a facsimile of knurling.

Cody, any comment on the IPF approved Ohio Power Bar? I was thinking of getting one as it should be similar to the Eleiko's used in competition but 1/3 the price.

Re: Ohio Deadlift Bar Review
Honestly, a lot of what you pay for with Eleiko is wank factor (high on the list), QC, overall fit and finish and warranty and customer service.
My gym brought 3 new Eleiko comp bars to go with the one they already had. One had a slightly loose bushing (still works fine to this day though). Gym owner called up the Eleiko supplier here, gave them the serial number and a new bar was flown out over night, no questions asked, no charge. From Sweden to Australia. We got to keep the old one too.
For a commercial powerlifting gym? Worth it. For a home gamer? Eh, if you got that sort of money I guess.

OPB is awesome.
ODB is awesome too. Decided to just switch over to ODB for pulls. Initially wanted to pull 600, with stiff bar since that's what I've been using, but fuck it
Re: Ohio Deadlift Bar Review
I've been thinking about treating myself to a new Power Bar for Christmas, the Ohio just might be the one.

I wish I had one in my garage. They're really fantastic barbells, better than my TPB.ShuggyBear wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2017 12:24 pm I've been thinking about treating myself to a new Power Bar for Christmas, the Ohio just might be the one.

I'm guessing these modern bars have to feel pretty awesome. My main bar for the last 20-21 years is a PA Power Bar that I purchasedCody wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2017 12:28 pmI wish I had one in my garage. I have a 45 lb Ohio Power Bar. I haven't found another that I like better. I have used Eleiko in a meet. Did not really notice a difference.

Much respect for that training history @ShuggyBear !
I'm so glad i asked idlehands about what bar to buy. Ended up w/ the OPB in plain steel. Love it.
