You could just use last month's 1rms as starting points. So "openers" for the test might be last month's 1RM minus ~5-10 pounds. Depending on how that opener rep feels, you could do last months 1RM + ~5 pounds. If the second rep feels awesome, add 10; if it's meh, add 5. You could also do 4th attempts... I don't think we need to simulate a meet at this point.
Ok, that sounds good to me.
But just for shits and gigs, would doing a 85% AMRAP be better for calculating a 1RM? I've been trying to read up more on this subject and it seems to help guys for picking numbers at meets and stuff.

A heavy-ass single gives better insight, but heavy-ass singles are disruptive. You're rolling right into another block next week (high volume), so an 85% test might be better (I find it to be a less fatiguing/disruptive test).

Ok, well if you think its best then we can just do the 85% AMRAP test? Its up to you and what you think is best.

how about mixing it up a bit? I'd like to see a new 1RM on bench (I think the fatigue will clear up by next week). But I think amrap with 85% on squat and deads.
BENCH: Was too crowded to bench so did some dumbbell presses and triceps instead.
On squat tonight I actually kicked it up a notch, the program called for me to do about 300, but made the call to go 315 instead and I feel pretty good today!
Was supposed to hit 390 for a single, but felt so good leading up to it that I shot for a set of 4 just to see if I could get it. The deadlifts are from an earlier session.
