Re: 2022 Goals
Expecting a lot of life stressors this year, but if I can get a solid 4 months stretch of programmed strength training before spring I think I can put together:
1. Front Squat 315. E1RM 322 right now.
2. Deadlift 545. E1RM 511.
3. Bench 365. E1RM 350.
4. Weighted Pullup +45x10, +90x5, +135x1. Current level +45x7.
5. Weighted Dip +135x10. Current PB 8.
Deadlift goal will demand a consistent hamstring and low back mobility routine to fix my start position or else my back will round too much too early and I won't be able to lock it out.
Pullup goal will demand a lot of load and exercise selection discipline as I try and get stronger without aggravating my elbow tendonitis to levels where I have to deload.

Re: 2022 Goals
lol, feelz m8. I might get there pumped. 14.5 cold right now. But I got like 8 sessions in the last 8 months...Right is still 15.7 and that was in a cast for a month.
That's single digit BF%'s for me, so I'm out. Good luck though!3. Visible abs
1. Both arms over 16''
2. 45'' chest with a 33'' waist, currently 44.5/34
3. Match all my PR's
Not too concerned with loading, more interested in Hypertrophy and bodycomposition after getting my sh33t together. Can't really train until the metal in my hand is out, and pressing movements need to stay light for a bit since It'll take a while till I can fully close my hand.

I would like to stick to BBM programs and follow them for the year rather than program hop.
I would like to drop my weight to 205 and still hit those numbers. Waist 34. Eat healthier.

Re: 2022 Goals
It's March and I am still fucking around and have not come up with any 2022 goals, despite thinking about this more than you'd think an adult should.
I did finally hit a 315 Bench. I lost 12 lb. I just deadlifted 460 x 3 sets x 5 reps, but it was on a Trap Bar, and I am unsure how to convert that to gauge against past straight bar deadlift PRs. I got my blood pressure back in normal range after it temporarily hit 140/90.
(Rant: I've come around to thinking Trap Bar deadlifts are far superior, and safer for my back, than regular deadlifts, so it's hard to swing back to regular straight bar deadlifts for straight bar PRs again.)
As much as I think the entire exercise is suboptimal, I guess my goal for 2022 will be the same as 2021 and 2020; I will finally straight bar deadlift 600lb.
My bench is so fair-weather that I'm not sure it makes sense to set goals. Traditionally, it has not been a regular process I could apply increased effort or improved strategy toward in order to reach a desired end state. It was always more a sort of grudge match that I showed up to, 3x/week, with no expectations. Just resolve and hope.
Though maybe now is different; I've started following Hanleys HVLF Bench programming.
Fuck it. Two goals:
(1) straight bar deadlift 600lb
(2) Bench 350

Re: 2022 Goals
First Quarter Update.
Down 40lbs, so ahead of schedule there.
Bench, front squat and squat seem to be going okay we'll see in a couple weeks where they are but I seem to have forgotten how to deadlift. I neglected press for a while but that seems to be coming back. Last strict curl max was 100 going to try gillingham bench for curls and see what happens.
I gave up on working on front rack for now.

Re: 2022 Goals
Squat was easy, did it in January and narrowly missed 190kg. Tore my quad a bit last August so I just did months of sissy squats and back work. Blasted past my old numbers once I could squat again. Didn’t do a rep with more than 145kg in the weeks leading up to it either.OverheadDeadlifts wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 11:14 am
180kg high bar ATG squat
100kg clean and press
142.5kg bench (I did 140 like 3-4 years ago so there’s no way I’m going another year without a PR)
260kg deadlift
Pretty confident about the deadlift but I only started pressing seriously again a week ago so no idea where that’s at.
Also going to add closing my Captains of Crush no.3 as a goal. Just did 10 reps with the 2 and got the 3 within about an inch.
I wish I had your tendons

Re: 2022 Goals
Originally wasn't too concerned about any particular goals, aside from the elusive squat, but calling it "aloud" makes it seem more real, I guess...
(1) 225 lb Press
(2) 545 lb Deadlift
(3) 335 LB Bench Press
(4) 4-Plate Squat, finally?

That’s awesome, John. I don’t know much about the DOTS system but a 23 point increase seems substantial.JohnHelton wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 5:19 pmDone. 407. Now I just want to figure out how to get that to 445-450.

Re: 2022 Goals
I have accomplished literally nothing in this year or any year, but there is still enough time to try to deadlift 500. 445 is my max, 500 is not realistic is it? Edit: (and also run a marathon, and grow 3 inches, and lose weight, and die)
I feel like if I deadlift 500 there will be some kind of runtime error in reality. I have like the dumb loser phenotype that comes from eating too many Funyuns, being overly negative and getting beat up as a kid, so if I actually do it will be like, woah, that's not supposed to happen. I'm 177lbs so that's 2.833333x bodyweight. That's getting closer to big boy numbers.
I am not a big boy.

Re: 2022 Goals
At 177, 500 is doable, though depending on how you attack it, your bodyweight might creep up. Whether or not that's a necessity is another matter.Anaphase wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 8:46 pm I have accomplished literally nothing in this year or any year, but there is still enough time to try to deadlift 500. 445 is my max, 500 is not realistic is it? I think you need to stop shitting on your self-image and just go for it, if you're going to commit to it.

People weaker, dumber, and smaller than you have deadlifted 500.
The biggest part is making the choice to pull 500 and committing to that choice.

Re: 2022 Goals
@Renascent, big congratulations on the two-plate press. That’s not just a goal met; it’s a milestone.
@Anaphase, if I recall correctly, you pulled that 445 this year, and it was a PR by a bit, yeah? If so, you passed 200kg, also a sweet milestone, and so you did accomplish something this year. (Something that I, weighing significantly more, have not; not that my low bar should be yours.)
