Played Horizon Forbidden West (PS5) on my LG CX 65" OLED...freaking gorgeous. Even on performance (upscaled 4k at 60 fps) it murders my computer monitor. 4k and full HDR is killer.

Probably going to get the LG C1 48" OLED as my PC gaming monitor. The other option is wait 6 months to 1 year as technology like this hits the market.

Yeah I'm not actually sure I would event want a 4K monitor. I got a 32" 1440 now, and aside from wanting more horizontal space for productive tasks, it's plenty big and sharp for me. I think a 48" would be wild but you'll have to let me know how that works if you pull the trigger.

Totally agree on the HDR and OLED being phenomenal. I got the Sony equivalent to your CX and the HDR or Dolby Vision content looks nuts. I don't game on it but can imagine that's fantastic too.

The 4K screen has pros and cons for productivity. It's wonderful to view a large PDF on the whole screen, like a schematic or a blueprint. Typically, I'd split the screen into thirds across, so it'd be like three 1280x2160 applications. Having 2160 pixels of height is usually great for coding, reading documentation, and certain terminal tasks. But kind of awkward and useless for a lot of stuff: most websites, chat apps, email. Also, IDEs usually need some rearranging to make sense in that narrow of a window. Sometimes I would split up the height, but then you only have 1080 pixels per app, and that's kind of inadequate for many things.

Now with 5120x1440, I can fit 33% more things horizontally, with 33% less height, which isn't too much of a negative for most tasks. It's a more natural workflow. I generally keep everything full height and multitask horizontally across.

I have a 32" Dell as well but not ultrawide. How is a 32" ultrawide? I am really tempted by this 34" ultrawide OLED but just wonder if it might be a tad too small vertically for work and such.

The 32" wouldn't be ultrawide, just 16:9.

And the 34" would have the same 1440 vertical pixels. Do you mean it would be physically too small vertically? Or is your 32" UHD?

The 32" wouldn't be ultrawide, just 16:9.

Yeah, I meant physically too small. In fairness, the 34" is only like 1.5" shorter.

Good pick. It is essentially an OLED TV. Slight nod goes to the LG C1. The LG C1 HDR is brighter. Also, the LG C1's stand allows for 'overhang'. Really comes down to where you are going to put it and which one you can find a deal on.

Desk pr0n:

Finished up my setup this morning. Wall mounted the monitor, ran all the wires through the wall and got reeeeeeal meticulous with cable management so nothing is visible except the power and thunderbolt dock cables. Also put LED light strips on the back of the desk and monitor.
