I find I wear the belt in different spots on different lifts and even with different holes. Deadlift I'll wear the back of the belt as low as I can and the front higher. That trick works better though with the 3" and not as much with the 4"

Yep good looking pull. My belt always gets in the way for pulls too. I think a 3" is prob better for DL but who wants to be switching belts all the time ?

Thanks, guys. : )

I actually started a thread for DL belt positions people use.
Cody's version seemed to work well for me in a mock up.
It didn't move when i was at the bottom, and my breathing into my belly wasn't restricted at all.

Just having it up a bit higher (top edge just below the sternum) and a notch tighter seems like a good way for me so far.
It's odd because i had no problems up until yesterday with this. Still getting used to the belt though, and i hadn't memorized the position that was working.

Not going to even try and figure out what happened yesterday.
Got through the pulls on sheer stubbornness, because i never got the locked in feel i usually have.

Yay stubbornness!

Smooth. Almost identical up and down. I'm usually a little hasty putting it down.

I like that you have a fire going in the background. You need a dog or cat laying in front of it. Though they can cause problems.

I use to let a stray sleep in my basement in the winter. It had a death wish. Sometimes it would come and jump on my chest if I was laying down to bench. . . .

Thanks for the information on singles programming. I did some more deadlift singles last night. I have no program at the moment though. I'm just treading water for another 3 weeks or so.

In any case, I'm curious to see where the singles will take you.

Bench 190 3X2 4X1
Dropping to triples now.
New top weight. Still getting used to/tuning in new foot position.
I need to stop the newly emerging habit of moving my feet mid set. Red light city. This is the third set.

Squat 345X3X3 New top weight. Triples now too.
I thought the third set would look worse than the first two, but i hit depth on all three, and it looked better than the first two.
Funky bar path in the middle of the ascent on the second rep, but i'll take it. **Looking at it now, that might be a bit of twisting actually.
As can be seen, these are pretty heavy for me at this point
Deload coming soon here too. I'll manage 350 first though.

Thanks, guys.
My "total" now of weights i've actually lifted, is 900lbs

I think a 405 squat may be a tall order before the meet Feb 24th.
But maybe i'll surprise myself.
I'm looking at starting heavier singles after work sets 6 weeks out.
Same for bench.

Deadlift i actually have planned out to the day.

I'm "from away" as they say here.
Grew up in Oregon. 47 or so years there.
The natives here react better to that than if i were from any of the states just south of us.

You're killing it Wilhelm.

That was definitely a twist on the squat. I twist sometimes to for no good reason... always right shoulder forward. I figured it was because I am a weakling but you are much stronger.

Did frequency sets of pull ups and my "cuff stuff"

I really like how the cuban presses make my shoulders feel.
Gonna start adding with fractional plates next week.

Deload, But also PR.

#54

Post by Wilhelm » Thu Nov 16, 2017 12:35 pm

Bench -short pause 192.5 X3 X2 and a failed rep, deload to 170X9 @10 I just wanted that last rep
But it wasn't paused, and it wasn't close to pretty. Should have settled for 8
Next session will be all deload weight, so i can do better then.
New rep record at 170 though. Had to look back a way in my notebook. :D

Squat Planned deload from 345X3X3 last session, to 295X5X2 X1X8 3rd set is also a rep reecord for this weight.

BUT... I worked up to an easy single for a PR of 350. I'd say it was an RPE@7 if i had to say. Never rated rpe, but i think i could have done 4 of these - I've also never done heavy singles. Only worksets.
This was FUN! I'm going to keep doing these before worksets all during this deload. And possibly after.

At first I thought it was higher than @7 based on bar speed but looking at your other squat videos, it looks like you are right about @7. Your speed is on the slower side and that single looks about the same as your fist reps at lower but similar weights. We have very similar squat maxes - I'll race you to 405! I think I can definitely get there in two more ~9 week cycles.

Yeah. As my weights have gone up, i seem to have settled into this style more than trying to bounce much.
I suppose Perhaps that will change in time, but i'm really trying to hit depth as a priority, and right now this seems how i can be more sure each rep. Like being aware of where i am rather than that blur of going faster.
It's the USAPL blues. Especially having never done a competition rep yet.

I've just started trying rating rpe. Just felt like i could do 4 of those with out much breakdown.
I saw your 365 rep. Very nice. I think i can run these singles up for several sessions.

We will soon be men. :D

I'm dying to get to 405 before the meet Feb 24th.
But i'm not going to be greedy about it.

I'll see how the pre workset singles go for a while.

**Remembered hours later to do my pullups. BW 5X6

Nice PR. It was smooth. Not a grinder. You've got more in you right now.

Bench-Short paused Deloaded from 192.5 -
172.5 X5X2 X8X1 155X8X3

Deadlift PR 375X1X5 90 second rests
Good lockouts on first four, rocked back on my heels on the 5th and didn't get a good lockout
But i lifted it all the way up, and put it all the way down.
If i'm able to complete the plan, it will be 385X1X4 next week, then 375X1 395X1 375X1 the following week, with a 1RM test a week after that.

First of the five -
