Same, although at present my issue is how many of the plates have fucking chunks out of them from being dropped and otherwise abused. It can take my several minutes to find two matching plates that aren't damaged.

Feeling an anxiety attack coming on. I can't unsee this!

Actual lol. I'd have liked to see that.

Saturday 7/22/23

DL - from 4" blocks - conventional
225 x 3 - DOH
315 x 3
405 x 3
495 x 3 - straps
585 x 3 x 3 sets

Floor Press - pinkies on rings
225 x 10 x 2 sets

The DL's were surprisingly easy, I had an easy 2 RIR. I don't know why, but I'll take it. I am not sure how I kept myself from just going crazy and throwing another wheel on there and YOLOing it. Now I'm all hyped up. And that is with being really gentle because I only have that thin jigsaw puzzle rubber flooring on top of the tile at the new place. That was part of the decision to pull from blocks, guarding the floor and setting the weight down slow and gentle every rep. Once I locate an active source for the good flooring I'll fix that problem. Third World problems, you have the money but no one has any to sell. Insert whatever product you want into that sentence, it applies depending on the week.

The shipping would be brutal, they are heavy. When I have seen them for sale in the past here, it was $90 for a standard square one, and they had all come out of a gym somewhere in the US and were very used. That tends to be what happens, somebody buys up a bunch of stuff in the US and stuffs a shipping container full and then tries to sell enough of it to cover their costs and whatever they actually wanted they get to keep. The used market is ridiculous here, used stuff is basically the same price as new stuff, at best only a little cheaper even if it's beat to hell. My Patrol is apparently currently more valuable than when I bought it, like 75% more valuable. I can buy a brand new Suzuki Jimny for about $3k more than a used one that is a couple of years old. This is how it is when everything except rice and beans and coffee is imported. I see used stuff for sale regularly for the same or even more than the same thing new, even when I can go and buy the new version not just when there are none in the country.

So different to here where the car loses about 50% value the second you drive off the lot...

Squats
135 x 5
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 3

525 x 1 - oops
475 x 1

GM's
345 x 5, 4

So, yeah. The 525 went unrecorded because it was an accident. In my head I was going for 510 again and seeing if it felt like a double today. The world will never know. I am off schedule this week in every way, I have a 4 1/2 hour drive to start my day tomorrow and will be sleeping that far away tomorrow night before driving home late and then Saturday I am due an hour away for a separate matter. So I made it fit today, which put me later than my normal window again, which meant people in the way. Had to wait for the rack, then had an issue locating plates so I loaded different this week. Thus, I made an error and hit a weight I was not planning on. It was heavy, to me at least. Then I just gassed out on GM's, which I was disappointed with a little - but I didn't realize the loading error until I was in my truck driving home.

I volunteered for the gig, sort of. Somebody has to do it, and I am uniquely situated in that I have a vehicle and flexible schedule. Someone 4 1/2 hours away is not responding and not getting things done, so whatever. I just wish everything didn't manage to migrate to the same week.

That's how it works, though. If one annoying or inconvenient thing happens it is usually immediately joined by a few other similar things.

Friday 7/28/23

Bench - flat - barbell
135 x 5
225 x 5
315 x 3 x 3 sets
225 x 10

Lateral Raises - DB
85 x 8 x 3 sets
65 x 8

JM Press - barbell - bench
155 x 7 x 3 sets

Leg Extensions - seated - Atlantis machine
150 x 15 x 3 sets

There was a body at every bench. There were 6 people in the gym plus me, 4 of them were occupying benches. The first one that came open was flat so that was what happened today. I haven't done flat bench in forever, so it was nice to have carryover from incline. Does anyone know exactly why it would be necessary to use a bench with uprights to perform DB work when there is an open adjustable bench open? Because 3 of the 4 benches were guys dicking around with small DB's and no need for uprights, or the bars in the uprights, and one guy even had a second bar in the bail out pegs below the main pegs while doing I am not sure what with 15's. I legit never saw him actually performing a rep of anything. Oh well, the trip out of town only took one day and I was home the same night, albeit quite late, and able to do most of the work in my office with A/C. Win.

Tuesday 8/1/23

Squats
135 x 5
225 x 5
315 x 5
405 x 3
475 x 2
525 x 1
475 x 2
405 x 3

GM's
335 x 5 x 2 sets

Hate to say it, but it was light and easy today. 475 felt lighter than 405 on the way up, and the only reason I didn't do a triple is because I wasn't planning to and am trying to stick to the plan rather than overshoot and derail my gainzz train. But seriously, it was light today. I felt like I had a double on 525 no problem, but the right hamstring cramped hard just below lockout and I didn't want to take any unnecessary risks. I had to use part of the squat rack to massage it out so I could do the other sets.

Thursday 8/3/23

Incline Bench
135 x 5
225 x 5
295 x 3
315 x 2 x 3 sets
305 x 3
295 x 2 - this was just strip the 5's and go again
225 x 10 - paused

Lateral Raises
85 x 8 x 3 sets
65 x 8

Laterals -just below horizontal to just above ROM
30 x 10, 8

JM Press
155 x 8, 6, 5

I felt it "shut off" on that last set with 295, I went from RIR on everything to "Better not" for a third rep. Like a light switch. I did not have the reps on anything the way I wanted after that. The laterals fell off after the 6th rep and the JM Press was grindy by the last rep on each set. Not complaining, it was a good session and I am happy with doubles at 315. I also think that making time to do that bit with just the top end of the ROM on laterals, even if it's a different day, makes a huge difference in how the heavy laterals progress and they also provide the side benefit of some trap activation. And who doesn't love some poppin' traps?

Saturday 8/5/23
Deadlift - conventional - 4" blocks
135 x 3 - DOH
225 x 3
315 x 3
405 x 3
495 x 3 - straps
585 x 3
675 x 1

Yeah.
I gave in to the inner meathead. I was squeezing this in, it's currently just past 10 PM and I just finished up. I have never pulled that much on a straight bar, ever. Sure, I've done Car DL's and Strongman stuff that was heavier at the handles, but I have never hit this many wheels before, much less from what I consider my sticking point, the height that has historically trailed my pull from the floor. I feel like I unlocked a cheat code a couple of weeks ago somehow and things are just blowing up now. I HAD MORE IN THE TANK tonight, I even considered trying for the double at the top for a moment but didn't want to screw it up with a miss. Now I have to figure out how to get to sleep.

Tuesday 8/8/23
Squats
135 x 5
225 x 5
315 x 5
405 x 3
495 x 1 x 3 sets
425 x 2

Good Mornings
335 x 6, 5

Not as good as last week, but I did just do Deads on Saturday night and this is the pattern. Do DL, next squat session is off a little. Part of juggling the session plan. Lower top weight, extra top single, bump the downset weight a little. I was apparently trashed though as I should have had more than 2 reps on the downset.

Friday 8/11/23

Incline Bench
135 x 5
225 x 5
315 x 1
325 x 1 x 2 sets
315 x 1 x 2 sets
225 x 10 - paused

Lateral Raises - DB
85 x 8 x 2 sets
85 x 5 x sets
65 x 5 - drop set directly after last set with 85, no rest

French Press - cable stack - rope handle
stack x 14
stack x 10 x 4 sets

Laterals - DB - top ROM only
35 x 5 x 3 sets

From the front the laterals look okay, but I shot some video from the side and the form degraded quite quickly after 5 reps from that angle so I stopped at 5 and did a drop set. Probably going to just do 5's for a bit, maybe with a drop set after each one. Not sure. I would like to be doing comfortable sets of 10 with the 85's with a good full ROM before I consider any jumps or serious changes. The 315 felt heavier than 325 except for the very last set with 315, which was way easier than all of the others for no good reason, I easily had a second rep on that last set - possibly a third. Usual off week after the beating from doing deads combined with screwy schedule, too many days off of lifting this week between sessions.

Thanks. I have always responded better to more weight than more reps. It'll probably bight me at some point, but adding reps goes stagnant with me pretty quickly.
