steroids in sports
I wanted to talk about this story but couldn't find any threads where it would fit:

I find this dudes story very suspicious.

Just skimmed it but the story seems to take for granted that it was an innocent mistake. Like you I don't see any reason to believe he was not trying to avoid the test.
Seems like some such rule is necessary anyway.

"The December “whereabouts failure” was Coleman’s fourth since June 2018, and third of 2019. In fact, he only escaped earlier punishment because of a rulebook loophole."
I fail to muster any sympathy for him. This is like people in MI that get hit with a sex crime for their 3rd public urination case. Maybe stop peeing in public, in front of cops, after the first 2?

@dw I agree that it is hard to feel sorry for him as it was his 4th offense in a few years. If you knew you were on the last strike and you were not being a closet PED user I would think he would have been extra careful.5hout wrote: ↑Wed Oct 28, 2020 7:34 am "The December “whereabouts failure” was Coleman’s fourth since June 2018, and third of 2019. You know who else used to miss tests all the time? John Jones. He also used to claim no PED use and have all kinds of excuses why he was missing his tests. When he did finally run out of chances and excuses he started popping for banned substances.

Conclusion: I'm pretty sure the dude is on the gear and had excuses so he would not get popped.

Re: steroids in sports
The Olympics have been riddled with PEDs for years, Weightlifting being the absolute worst offender. "The IOC stripped 29 weightlifting medals after 49 positive tests, most involving steroids, came back from reanalysis of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2012 London Olympics." (USA Today). I remember hearing talk that if weightlifting didn't clean up their act regarding drug use and other corruption, then it would no longer be in the Olympics. Back in 2016 the ENTIRE Russian team was suspended from the games in Rio.

Re: steroids in sports
I remember hearing somewhere an estimated 90% of top level athletes across all sports are on some kind of PED. I think I heard that on the documentary with the former Soviet weight coach. I forget the name of it. But it talked about spy level shit the soviets would use to beat the drug tests for the Olympics.Grewester wrote: ↑Wed Oct 28, 2020 12:35 pmThe Olympics have been riddled with PEDs for years, Weightlifting being the absolute worst offender. I always wonder how many former athletes were on PEDs before testing was even an issue.

I remember when the Hulkster got in trouble for the juice I was so sad I could not believe he did not get that big from taking his vitamins and saying his prayers!

Icarus?
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6333060/
It's still on Netflix
There was a German TV doc on the same topic that preceeded it.
I think it's mentioned in Icarus.

Re: steroids in sports
The whole Out Of Competition testing is joke in the other doper countries.
Imagine WADA trying to get into China, N.Korean, Russia, KAZ, etc. to test an athlete?
I heard for a while, in countries like those, they would train at the athletic centers at Military Installations and register those places as their "where-abouts". Then the WADA officials couldn't get passes or security clearances.....and/or if they did, the application and approval process
is so long and drawn out, its no longer a "surprise test" to athlete. They know in advance they're coming.
They could clean the guys up or whatever....
or...
Contingency plans include:
- using other people's urine
- doppelgängers
- put bribes in motion
- prolly just flat intimidation of the testing crew.
fookin lolz

Re: steroids in sports
Yeah, when you read about WADA compliant testing, a lot of the out of competition testing is done in country, by the countries testing organisation. Not by WADA themselves.

I encourage this as a standard. The Olympic will end up being just one day - the opening and closing ceremonies.

Re: steroids in sports
Do you guys think UFC has cleaned up their act or are the fighters just getting better at hiding it?
For example:
Israel Adesanya recent Gyno issue?

I think UFC is now one of the cleanest sports.
Adesanya gyno issue is some medical problem, me thinks.
It's hard to be on juice when you get +10 random visits by USADA/WADA.

Re: steroids in sports
Jone Jones was given a pass basically for his last "positive" test. It is still dirty but the UFC athletes are learning to adapt to testing protocols; microdosing was one way they were getting around WADA, probably something else now.

Re: steroids in sports
Yea honestly they shouldn't let Jones compete untill he has no trace amount od turinabol.
But the difference between pre USADA and after is obvious.
I would say USADA cleaned the sport pretty much.

Re: steroids in sports
I don't believe for 1 second those guys are clean now. They are just better at not getting caught. Here is an article from September about some guys testing positive for PEDS/ other drugs:
https://www.espn.com/mma/story/_/id/298 ... drug-tests
Another story from June:
https://www.tmz.com/2020/06/18/ufc-rach ... -for-peds/
Here is a better breakdown then I can give as to Adesanya's gyno issue.

Re: steroids in sports
I can't watch the video right now.
Those links that you posted actually confirm that USADA is cleaning the sport.
There is no Ubereem, jacked Lesnar, trt Vitor, trt Bigfoot Silva etc...
Even Jones is obviously worse now after failing drug tests.
Many of the top fighters are clean now.
It’s very hard to beat drug tests these days, and it just ain't worth a risk.

I don't know how accurate these are, and how many are same weight class comparison pictures, but it seems at first glance that the levels of doping are much lower. People might still be on, but much less, less time or less effective/studied products.
