Same.

For me, they just are not good movies and have not been for a while. Just bad stories with uninteresting 1-dimensional characters that ostensibly have high stakes (save the Universe for the 100th time) but aren't because no real jeopardy or some kind of ridiculous dues ex machina will be used to save the day. Then the whole shared universe just gets dumb. Where were the Avengers in the Eternals? Giant robot god was being born out of the ocean destroying the planet...probably something the Avengers would look into. I think the Thanos arc was dragged out way too long. And the arc undid the only thing that made the MCU universe have consequence and therefore meaning. Never understood the love for Black Panther.

I thought Captain Marvel was okay (liked Jackson and Larson together) B level effort. But why follow it up with this threesome (not porn) concept introducing two unknowns? Why not build off of the first Captain Marvel movie? I think it is this incessant need of Marvel studios to create and maintain these shared universes. STOP IT. It worked once for a couple of movies.

It's like X-men. Short of crossover events, X-men exist in their own Marvel universe. X-men don't make sense in a Universe with Thor. Marvel studios will fuck it up.

I rewatched Blade. Fantastic. Still holds up. Solid, tightly written story. Grounded in 'reality'. Great action with practical effects. Just do that Marvel.

I never thought I'd be so apathetic about some of my favorite characters but yeah... here we are...

Such a disappointment but it's clear the people in charge no longer care about telling good stories, which is how it felt with the original movies...

Also I mean The Marvels... it's literally the plot of Spaceballs...

I’ll probably binge Loki over the thanksgiving weekend. Reports are out that it’s well worth watching.

I think I’d prefer if the MCU would just become serialized more with less frequent movies tying some things together.

However, the best Marvel serials were probably the ones on Netflix. Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Daredevil, Punisher. They kinda just existed with a little bit of crossover.

Without having seen Loki S2, I do think S1 was good simply because the arc existed in its own space, even though Marvel used it to promote the multiverse mythology. You can watch Loki on its own, but the movies are becoming less coherent if you don’t see the series. I’m guessing the latest Captain Marvel movie will have that issue and the series used to tie things together was a bit weak, imo.

I felt like Moon Knight was a cool concept and character, but I never felt the series lived up to what I hope it would do.
I feel the same as others about Marvel, theyre just constantly churning out "stuff", rather than something im interested in. Avengers Endgame was the last thing that really gripped me, and it wrapped up some storylines in a satisfying way. I though Loki S1 was ok though. I thought WandaVision was a bit odd, though I guess it set up the Dr Strange 2 movie. The Wanda character was a bit daft by that point... The newer movies seem to lack the magic and appeal the earlier movies had.

I agree wholeheartedly. The best times I had with the MCU were with the netflix series.

PSA- Do not watch the Jennifer Lawrence Netflix movie No Hard Feelings.

Worst movie I've seen in a long time. Tries to be raunch-com but ends up a cringe-fest.

Another example of how the streaming services play it cheap with editing.

That being said, I rewatched the scene on the beach at night.

According to what I’ve read a lot of it was actually her.

Does anyone get the love for Reacher?

The actor portrays him as an emotional mute that at times seems autistic. It is completely unbelievable that anyone in the show would react to him the way they do. Just as it is unbelievable he and his gang are going around New York City committing violent crimes and have zero police interaction. It is like a 13-year old boy dreamed up the 'ideal' man and unleashed him in world where there he has zero consequences for his actions. I don't man...just don't understand the love.

I love the books. (More particularly, those by Lee Child, excluding the last one, which was a pos, the realization of which appears to have been a factor in him hanging it up. The subsequent books written by his brother are atrocious. I read the first two, was embarrassed, and quit there.) I’m actually in the process of re-reading them all. Based on the above and other descriptions that I’ve read and heard, I wouldn’t watch the show for money.

I've been watching it, and kind of love it. Ritchson can't act to save his life*, but Reacher is just so big, (lots of forced perspective - sure) that its a lot of fun. Is it good TV? Not really, but is it a fun way to spend Friday evening? Sure. '

* Reacher is supposed to be pretty smart, but he's such a bad actor, and whenever he goes into detective mode, its so clear that the actor barely understands what he's saying, it comes off as robotic.

I stopped watching after a biker gang hire to kill Reacher surprises Reacher and his gang. In real life the biker gang would have just gunned them down. There had already been multiple murders and gun fights up to this point. Including the use of a pipe bomb in a residential dwelling. Reacher makes a comment "no guns. you want to keep this quiet." Then 5 people engage 20 in hand-to-hand combat and somehow kill all of them without suffering a single injury. That is Power Rangers bullshit. Couldn't watch it anymore.

Reacher is a total Mary Sue in the books, movie and TV show.

The big boy beat up bad people and threw them out of a helicopter. My Friday evening watching Reacher was entirely enjoyable.

I havent seen anything worth a damn since I finished 92 episodes of Mad Men like 7 years ago. Perhaps its time to just read books, like an old man.

It’s throwaway tv and I love it. It’s just pulp fiction grindhouse shit with some random humor and whatnot. I’m okay with it.

Enjoying Loudermilk on Netflix. Shame it was on a network that died. Netflix might finish it off with a S4 & S5?

Tacoma FD is good when I’m riding the air bike.
