Normally I prefer to pay them no mind -- they've an insistent presence, even when nothing really appears to be going on -- but we've had them casually wander onto to our property once before with guns and flashlights drawn.

My normal inclination would've been to go outside and see who the fuck was slithering around in my backyard without an invitation, but thankfully we have cameras so I didn't "get myself killed" that night.

Somewhat amusingly, that same night, they later went across the street onto a neighbor's property. This neighbor has one of those front doors with the large, decorative oval made of glass, and you could see the flickers of what was likely a television or something through it.

Just for the hell of it, the cops shined a flashlight into these folks' house. I remember thinking how creepy that would feel to someone inside if they'd noticed, and how horribly awry the situation could go if the homeowner noticed the intrusion and responded "the wrong way."

Figured I wouldn't take my chances yesterday. Was feeling too good, and didn't want to run the risk of having it ruined.

I have to consciously force myself to NOT pec pop when I’m sitting bored with my arms crossed. There’s no way I’d be able to stop with a pump.

I’m one of those nervous energy/constant motion people though and my wife gets super annoyed when she sits next to me.

What the actual fuck...

We've had police knock on our door twice in about seven years. Once because some little pricks had a run down the street throwing stones through car windows (including mine) and they were checking whose cars were hit; and once because someone shot up a house in our complex around two am and they were looking for anyone who'd seen anything.

If they tried pulling the kind of shit your lot do there would be an uproar.

Pants tearing is the worst!
After years and lots of torn pants, I just use Walmart sweatpants.

Years ago I was squatting, and after my first set I noticed girls looking and smiling at me and watching me squat. For just a moment I thought maybe they appreciated a good, 3 plate, low bar squat. Then, while squatting my next set, in the mirror’s reflection I saw some girls going up the stairs and actually pointing at me. Something was up.

I realized my pants had torn and bright pink boxers were clearly visible at the bottom of each rep. Finished all my squats, and then all my other exercises, inadvertently giving everyone a show (admittedly a boring one). Good times.

My question is, how can anyone squat or deadlift in long pants of any kind?

Although, I can barely tolerate long pants in any situation unless it's cold and I have to be in the cold for longer than about a half hour.

I'm the same way. Wife doesn't mind unless she wants to snuggle up.

I'm very grateful that the pants-ripping thing didn't really become an issue until I started lifting at home.

While I don't know if I'd feel embarrassment from the exposure, it'd irk the hell out of me to have to go all the way home over a wardrobe malfunction (or worse, being pegged as some kind of flasher creep if I decide to power through and finish my session).

I generally only use long pants for squatting during the colder seasons.

While I don't exactly scrape the shins, technique-wise, when I deadlift, the possibility of losing hair or skin leads me to put on long pants specifically for pulls.

I've got shin guards for that reason. Without them I wear holes in my shins that never heal between deadlift days. My knees get scraped on the regular because they are bony AF and stick out. I had to pick a chunk of hair off the bar yesterday where it tore it out of my knee.

You can actually get dedicated neoprene shin guards like Bear Grips, or do what a mate of mine does and cut a 600 mL water bottle down the length and stick it under his socks. Knee sleeves work too, but get torn up eventually.

My knees are actually going bald because they rub on my trousers and for work I often end up kneeling because I prefer that to stooping over. They're calloused AF so I don't usually notice them getting scraped until later.
