If grip isn't your limiting factor on a 28.5mm TPB, it won't be on a 29mm OPB.

If all you are worried about is grip, you will be pleasantly surprised at the grip provided by a meet bar vs a worn out gym bar. Eleiko's especially grip like crazy!

I also thought about this. The knurling on my gym bars is very worn down with barely any bite to it. Grip has been a limiting factor in the not-too distant past, but the worn knurling is probably part of the problem, and I've been working pretty consistently on the other part (my actual grip strength) so I'm thinking it won't be a problem at the meet. I managed 605x2 last week with no slippage so I should be good for one rep at 10-30lbs more I think.
