First Squats in 7.5 Months - Form Check

#1

OK, I've been front squatting all year.

I am wrapping up a prep cycle for a half-marathon foot race in a week and a half, then I'll pivot and focus on SBD in hopes to attend a meet in late September. I am starting to back squat now, to ease into powerlifting training starting June 8.

Light weight, 185 lbs, for 4 sets of 5 (in chronological order on IG).

Lumbar flexion was apparent on set 2 (blocked by plates on set 1), and attempted to be remedied on sets 3/4 by better bracing and cutting depth.

Any glaring issues? They can use some polish and while I don't think they're bad, I'm not a SSC. There's certainly room for improvement in tightness and depth. Need to put in reps, and get better shoes (have tried many, many shoes - very wide feet).

Thank you for the thirst angle at the end. :-)

These look pretty solid. If you’re looking to replicate a certain low bar form specifically, you might want to throw your knees in place a little earlier on the way down.

Otherwise, proceed with the gains.

I'm not exactly sure what that means, but you're welcome!

I squatted 3x3 at 225 today. The video is below, but let me warn you: it was over 80 degrees in Oregon today so the following video is NSFW (shirtless).

Your form looks solid there also.
