Thats exactly what I was doing. I had a timer running, did 25 reps at the top of each minute. Not trying that again for a while.

Ha, I don’t hear diesel as much these days as a term for jacked, but let’s bring it back!

Top single felt pretty good, but the top set of 4.... leaves some to be desired. I realised my left wrist kept cocking back, which really reduces how well I can drive into the bar. Rectified that in the back off sets. I could be in line for a tiny 2RM PR in two weeks.

A bit of a "meh" session. Stomach felt a bit off the last day or two, so that may have done something. 200kg moved pretty well, same as 195kg moved two weeks ago.

Today did not go well. Top single and top set of 4 felt wayyy more difficult than I expected. I think I may take next week as a deload and then decide what I do next.
Deadlifts just did not feel good, I had zero leg drive, was using entirely my lower back.
Im getting tempted to switch back to higher rep stuff and just have fun doing that for a while....

Deadlifts are fickle, especially if you do back to back hard sets like that.

Didnt have time to do my accessory stuff today, perhaps i can find time tomorrow. Regardless, next week will be a deload.

Im thinking I will just do some really basic progression stuff. Im thinking of doing some almost Hepburn-esque type thing. Start with 3x3 and slowly build up to 5x5. When I get the 5x5 add 5-10kg and start again. No AMRAPs and no RPE, just simple so I dont have to think too hard. I think my heaviest sets of 5x5 for all lifts are Squat: 180kg, Bench: 127.5kg and Deadlift 190kg. If I can surpass all of those, which Im sure I can with Bench anyway, then I should be moving in the right direction.

You probably can with deads too. Wouldn't be far off on squat either.

Yeah I think deadlifts shouldnt be too far off if i do this scheme. My squats are still lagging behind where they were, but again not a million miles away.

Bench Press:
162.5kg x2 --- PR
140kg x3
140kg x3
140kg x3

...aaaand that was the whole session. Managed to squeeze out a small +2.5kg PR for my 2RM. My goal will be to build up to 140kg 5x5. Lets see if that actually happens...

The trick is to not be good at squats and deads, so then bench can just continue to slowly (oh so slowly) climb. That, and lots of benching volume.
