Re: Who's Fasting
That no salt substitute stuff is handy when you're fasting for getting potassium. I was putting it in my coffee or drinks for the gym. Sea salt too.

Re: Who's Fasting
On a slow cut since the 1st myself. 1800-2200kcal averaging per day.
I think the last time I've went 8 days without a beer was being deployed back in 2014. Fucking grim, but cutting alcohol is my biggest boost to performance.

Re: Who's Fasting
Now that I'm trying to shed fat in earnest, the one thing I really miss is beer. I've had a single one since I started this cut on the first of Dec, and that was on my wife's birthday.GlasgowJock wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 4:49 am I think the last time I've went 8 days without a beer was being deployed back in 2014. Re: Who's Fasting
I have been limiting myself to about 2 oz. of whiskey per night after dinner. I do better when I'm not totally depriving myself. I have been abstaining from beer though. Just too many calories. I did drink a lot of beer over the holidays. That was fun while it lasted.rjharris wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2020 7:24 amNow that I'm trying to shed fat in earnest, the one thing I really miss is beer. Re: Who's Fasting
Well my dry January's coming to an end; wife whingeing like heck 'cause she wants a few gin and diet lemonades this evening and obviously doesn't want to drink herself like some raging alkie. Our living room TV broke last night so I don't want to risk a Scottish version of 'The Shining' (The Simpsons' Halloween version anyway).
I was hoping to put it off until at least next weekend as having dropped 7lb already I've built up some good momentum. Much like yourself John total deprivation doesn't work tbh. Hopefully a few beers this evening and abstain until next Saturday.
Guess it's salted boiled eggs for post-drinks' supper!

Re: Who's Fasting
My 20/4 fasting is going great. With one exception. I definitely get cold at the end of my fasts...and a bit hungry. That said, this is the easiest and most extreme cut that I have done. Losing weight fast while my lifts are staying strong. I love that fact that I can eat like normal once I break the fast. I really only think about being hungry for about 2.5 hours per day. However, I know that I just have to hang on a bit before I can really eat.

Re: Who's Fasting
Update. I slowly became more relaxed about my fasting protocol and as such my weight loss has slowed. I now have to get serious to keep pace with my office weight loss challenge goals. Plan: 16/8 fasting. However outside of dinner, I will only be consuming 2 scoops of whey and about 1 cup of 2% milk. I think this plan should get me there while also getting enough protein for MPS. Moving average weight down to about 209 lbs. as of today. That is down about 10 lbs. since the beginning of January.

Re: Who's Fasting
my weight loss has slowed too. Since Jan 6 I'm down from 118 to 115kg, and I've lost nothing in the last 2 weeks. I may need to slowly build back up and then restart fasting.
Last time I fasted (6 years ago) I just stopped and started eating normally. I guess the safer way to do this is add a lean lunch back in, and then a couple of weeks later a lean breakfast, and then build to 5 protein heavy meals a day again, then add carbs and fats until I'm eating totally normal for a month, then drop back to fasting.
Thoughts? Has anyone cycled it?

I have been fasting for over 6 months, if I eat in a deficit I lose fat. simple as that.
105kg to 78.5kg as of this morning
I use a fitbit to help track my calories, works well

Re: Who's Fasting
Just target calories and protein (.8 g per lbs of body weight as a minimum). Adjust calories, not protein, to increase/decrease rate of weight loss. It is that easy.

Re: Who's Fasting
Day 3 of getting back on the IF train, 3 days of 23/1 fasting. Going to go to 20/4 fasting tomorrow. It's amazing, you cut out booze and overeating and magically feel great. Hoping to stick to 20/4 throughout the holidays. In this past I've found that 20/4 or 22/2 works really good for avoiding/limiting holiday weight gain, so hopefully it will work this year.

Re: Who's Fasting
I'm trying I.F. again.
This time the wife brought it up; she wants to try it so I said I'd do it along side of her.
We are trying the 16 hr fast / 8 hr eat every day scheme.
The first time I think I only last two weeks or so....not long enough to see benefits I guess.
I remember the first time I tried, she got pissed because I wouldn't eat a late dinner.
I mean, I would either sit down with the family and/or go out with them to eat ....
...but I wake up super early for my construction job, so eating a 4-5 pm and then eating again at 9-10 am is ideal.
Eating at 8 pm, then waking at 3:45am and trying to go to noon really fucking sucks...you're awake for a majority of the fast.
Anyway, I'll report back in and see how it goes.
I'm about day 4 or 5 right now.
