TDS safety squat bar. I picked one up for pennies a while ago and kept meaning to try it. I've used the TDS box though, and it's on my list of things to buy. My lifting buddy has it and it's held up really well to the heavy-ass weights he moves. The only thing he mentioned was that he would like to get a pad of some sort to put on top as there's not much cushion.

How do you like the TDS SSB? What do you use for box squats now? I am thinking about getting an adjustable style squat box or one of the Elite FTS pylo 14, 16 & 18" boxes, although I am not sure 14" is low enough.

The TDS SSB is not as bad as I thought it might be, but it won't be replacing my Elite SSB. It does sit on my back without my hands on the handles, but since the handles are in line with the sleeves it rides on the neck pretty hard, so I usually push up on them. Seems to hit my quads and abs harder than the Elite SSB does.
This guy has a review of the TDS, you can see how high he pushes up on the handles.

Right now I use a 16.5" flat bench for box squats. With the wider stance I've been trying it lands an inch above parallel. With these weights it hasn't been triggering knee aids, so hopefully that continues, but it would be nice to be able to easily go higher or lower. I used to have the TItan box, and that was dogshit to adjust. If you never adjust it, it was ok.

I've been thinking about just stacking up bumpers to get different heights, but that's not as sWeeTsmElLofEaSy as a box.

12/7

Went and lifted at an actual strongman gym, first time ever. Seemed like a good crew of guys, and was educational having them tell me all the dumb things I was doing with my log clean. It's definitely not a movement I've
trained much, but I've definitely got work to do.

It's 75 minutes away, so hoping to make it a monthly or at least quarterly thing to go lift there.

Easiest 500 I've ever pulled ever. If pulling sumo and using straps is wrong, I don't want to be right.

2" Deficit Axle DL (conventional): 3x5x200

Log C&P: 2x5x30

Thick Grip DB Press: 3x15x55

BB Back extension: 2x8x180
Lat Pulldown: 3x8x140

Trying to find the "right" amount of pull work for me. Normally have been doing:

Day 1:
Heavy sumo single
4x4 high handle trap bar DL

Day 2:
Squats

Day 3:
2/3x8 low handle trap bar DL

The Day 3 low handle pulls have felt like absolutely dog crap every single week. Instead I think I'm going to switch to more of a high/low handle trap bar rotation on Day 1 and change the Day 3 pulls to something that's going to keep the weight down while hopefully not being useless. I've also been wanting to have more of a dedicated "strongman" day instead of just mixing it in with the rest of the lifts, so thinking that will be the new Day 3 work. This week I know I'm squatting on the weekend, so doing Day 3 early. Plan will be something like:

Day 1:
warm up to Sumo DL heavy single (until I start failing a heavy single, at least)
Rotate 4x4 high or 2/3x8 low handle trap bar DL
Rotate volume DB Press or Axle press
Accessories

Day 2:
SSB Squat volume
Rotate volume DB Press or Axle press
Accessories

Day 3:
Deadlift Variation: axle, snatch, deficit, etc.
Log Clean and Press
Rotate volume DB Press or Axle press
Accessories

Something like that, anyway. Day 1 also tends to run a bit long, so should probably trim some accessory work out, or move it to off days. If this doesn't feel any better, option 2 is to lengthen this out to a 10 day type of thing instead of 7.

Log needs so much more work, ugh. Still trying to muscle it up with arms.
