Eddie and Oberst are entertaining. They didn’t let Eddie agitate Bryan like he did on YouTube, so it made Bryan come off flat. I felt kind of sorry for Nick. Outside the canned old man and “poor” jibes, the other guys didn’t seem to mesh well with him.

I'm watching ep 2 now, with them at Paul Anderson's house/home town.

Pretty cool compared to ep1.

It's definitely on my list of things to watch someday. I will say that I saw a trailer or clip somewhere where they were talking about a massive OHP and then it turned out to be 400 lbs, off a rack. I realize this might be asking for trouble, but when I saw all those big boys standing around talking about OHP and saw a rack I figured it would at least be close to Reding's 502, plus he had to clean that off the floor.

There is definitely a balance going on between what will get ratings and what could injure them. It’s entertaining, though, and their rapport gets better as they go, even if the scripted parts are pretty obvious.

Remember your audience...

They didn't put this show together for people who are following strength sports/strongman.

Is some of (most of) the stuff on the show sub-maximal for these guys? Absolutely. They aren't about to kill themselves (well, Nick might) for the show when they don't have to and it will come off just as impressive for the average viewer. Plus remember that Shaw was training for/competing at the Arnold and WSM while he was filming this...

I've seen a few episodes online. It seems decent, but don't foresee it lasting too long.

Yep. They were working in some episodes to come up with a back story. I’ll be surprised if they make a second season, and downright shocked if they do a third.

Also they were all push pressing except maybe Eddie.

So that was pretty disappointing. Show is overall entertaining from the little I've seen though.

Someone putting 400 lbs over their head is disappointing.

What a time to be alive haha...

It's called strongest man in history and they're push pressing 100 lbs less than the biggest strict press.

I mean it's an impressive feat of strength obviously but it's like a bw press for those guys...

My commentary is a little less about your personal reaction and more on how 400+ lb overheads are so common in the sport now that people who follow it kinda yawn at it.

Sure, I get where you're coming from, but again... I think it's about the target audience. One of the clips they showed after commercials was Eddie's axle WR which was strict AF...

Joe Schmoe doesn't know the difference...

The Strongest Man In History title is more about the people they are "rediscovering" imo.

Also, these guys all compete, and this is a tv show, not Giants Live, or WSM.

Yeah that's correct, they're just using that title to reference the strongmen in history.

Also was very disappointed in how easily Shaw did the pinch grip with Paul Anderson's deep dish York plates.

Some of the events put them at legit risk and they don't seem to mind. I don't think attempting a 500 lb push press is as risky as quarter belt squatting 2700 lbs of unbalanced weight (which everyone but Nick did -- Nick went with 2800 lbs of balanced weight lol)

As I said I'm more disappointed in the press bit specifically, not that these guys aren't in general pushing themselves hard enough on a tv show.

After watching a bunch of clips I'll probably buy the season for $9.

Hahaha do you ever watch his youtube? That wasn't surprising even a little.
