I think he was trying to do like a heavy clean slo-pull and finish it with a slight DBK and extension ....

...he didn't need to hitch it the way it was moving there.

That's all I can think of

Does this count for gym bro? Guy brags about 400 bench, gets called out and then posts video of him actually doing it.

I bet what happened, is that dude said "400".
Its next like the next level of "tree-fiddy back in hi skewl".
"A nice round 400? bullshit" is what that other guy thought.

-----------------

really though, its 405.
Who in the fuck would test their max at 400? (and not go the extra 5# for 4 plates).
400# is 181k or 182k ... so that doesn't even make sense either.

If a rando dood said his OHP was 310#, I'd just assume he was lying based on that alone,
and it shows he's even aware how plate math works,
and/or probably never had even stepped inside a gym.

I never know what to say when rando's ask me how much I can lift. Usually it's something like "My best was X, but right now it's probably only Y." I then make some joke about asking any dude how big their dink is- you're never going to hear a small number.

Sometimes I lead with the dink joke and then tell them I bench 9 inches.

Pfffft. I bench 24 inches and I'm not even exaggerating.

When I posted a few weeks back about my 402 DL in the PR thread, as having passed 400, it did occur to me that it was sorta lame not to wait until four plates. Since then, though, I still haven’t hit the goddamn 405.

Well, in kilos, as used in meets, it's either 182.5 kg / 402.3lbs, or 185kg/ 407.9 lbs.

Appreciate you digging me out - my pull in fact was 182.5/402.4, as I was using kgs at home. I later failed 185/407.9, then went back to the gym and switched back to lbs, and failed 405 too. I need to stop hitting my head against the wall and back off, but it's right fucking there.

Random: "I am going to a PL gym where everyone is bigger and stronger than me. I need to ignore them, tell me how."
Rip: "Get a home gym."

Anyone can coach a jacked up gorilla on steroids to a 750 pound sumo deadlift. More impressive is safely taking 65 year old Ms. Betty's deadlift from nothing to 200.
Sheesh... These people!

As I am away from home I have started using a commercial gym for the first time since I tried SS about 11 years ago.

Some observations:

1. Squats and deads are indeed much more popular than they used to be, particularly with women. This place has four racks and they are sometimes all taken. The gym I previously used had one rack and it was never taken. I would say the squatters are 65/35 men and the deadlifters maybe 60/40 women.

2. The hardcore bros are more ridiculous than I would have believed possible. There are these two guys who constantly yell and groan at well above normal volume, and they literally shout at each other when they talk because both wear headphones that they refuse to turn down in order to converse. (This is all maskless btw.) Not going to bother cataloging the homoerotic and inane comments I have overheard.

3. Not sure if it's a California thing but the cost was $100 for two months. Back when I had a 24 Hour Fitness membership it was priced something like Netflix.

4. There's only one leg extension machine and it seems to be in high demand.
