Re: Pressing Matters - Peez' Log
Squat day, hooray.
45x10, 145x5, 225x3, 285x1, 345x5x2. Almost went for a third set but just didn't have the energy. Too much stress and Judo last night took their toll, plus I'm a fat old pussy.
Hope the kids are taking care of the snow shoveling today. Looks like we have around 6 inches so far.

Friday is "just fucking around" day
Friday is "just fucking around" day
CGBP - 45x10, 135x5, 185x10x3
Then took Jack and Jill, a pair of 40kg kettlebells, for walkies. 75s and 60s. If I can increase that to say 3 minutes, it should help me a lot in my upcoming Judo tournament in May. With one of the opponents, I ran out of juice during grip fighting last time, could not move my fingers anymore by the end of the match, gotta work on that.
19 minutes total.

Re: Pressing Matters - Peez' Log
Week two of the first cycle - 5s.
Press 45x10, 135x5, 165x1, 192.5x5x3
And then I took Jack and Jill for a walk, 90s and 60s.
Turns out I haven't been very disciplined in the nutrition department. BW has crept up above 190, but still under 200. Time to trim a bit of the holiday fat. Before I go on a real cut I'll attempt to just do snack & portion control.

You totally should have pressed him and just left him wiggling up there till he submitted. I dunno why you keep ignoring my excellent judo advice.peez wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2018 12:26 pm Friday is "just fucking around" day

Re: Pressing Matters - Peez' Log
I was thinking about getting some of those Coc grippers, too. I didn't know which one to start with, though. I wonder if the 0.5 would be too hard at the beginning?
PS, I thought I was on the last page of your log but I wasn't. So that Coc discussion was like a month ago. Whoops. So, how's that Coc training been going?!

When you are frolicking in what could be charitably described as bondage PJs, oddly enough, the referees frown upon such ostentatious frippery as raw strength.Shane wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2018 2:53 pmYou totally should have pressed him and just left him wiggling up there till he submitted. That guy was just a rock. (But your strategy was pretty much how I won the first match through a 20 second pin after a half-assed throw - maybe you are on to something!) I guess I should hire you as my coach.

Re: Pressing Matters - Peez' Log
Hmmm oddly enough, having an assortment of CoCs lying on my desk hasn't done shit for my grip. Maybe I should use them. I'll put it in my calendar as a recurring daily entry titled "Dude, use the fucking gripper already"laikabear wrote: ↑Mon Jan 08, 2018 10:49 pm I was thinking about getting some of those Coc grippers, too. I'd start with a Trainer and a 0.5. But what do I know. For me these things are apparently more ornamental.

Indeed - a common occurrence when the blood is needed elsewhere, not just during DLs.

Re: Pressing Matters - Peez' Log
Wrapped up the week with squats. Working holidays, nights and weekend took it's toll, so a single set is all I had today. We're heading to Cape May, NJ for a three-day weekend for some much needed R&R.
Squat 45x5, 145x5, 235x3, 325x1, 350x5

Back from the short beach vacation.
This week is singles week - and I'm not referring to my relationship status.
Press 45x10, 135x5, 185x1, 220x1*, Back-off 190x5.
* as shit gets heavy, my press devolves into a slight push-press. At some point I might get back to a more strict form but for now I'm enjoying this too much.

It's all ice. Coming down the Delaware river and flowing into the Atlantic near Cape May, NJ. Felt quite arctic.

Re: Pressing Matters - Peez' Log
Once in a while, you have to have a shit day. Turns out today is that day.
DL - 45x10, 145x5, 235x3, 325x1, could not get 425 more than a few inches off the ground, twice, did 375x5 singles and called it a day.

Bench day ... singles week.
45x10, 135x5, 185x1, 250x1, 255x1, 260x1 - these all were surprisingly fast @ RPE 8 or 9. Had only planned for one or two singles. Then back-off 225x5 for volume.
