Press 45x5, 135x5, 190x4 - pulled something in my neck on the fourth rep, but because I'm a stubborn bastard did two more sets of 3.

Now it's Vitamin I time again! That's getting older for you.

Hope I'll survive Judo tonight. [btw I'm stoked because my 11 year old daughter fought really really well during yesterday's tournament - and brought home a gold]. Maybe I'll do squats tomorrow. Big maybe.

15 minutes - alas, didn't save 15% on my car insurance.
peez, are you sure you warm up enough? Sorry for nagging you and so on, so just asking. And as you know, when you get older ( you young whippersnapper you ) you need more warm up. I find I need 5 sets with the empty bar now, but of course I am a bit older than you.

Yeah there is a good chance I don't warm up enough. But by the end of the workout I'm nice and toasty :D I don't want to waste my limited energy on futzing around - but you're right, I really should do a little more before the work sets.

It's allowed.
Congrats on the offspring's success.
Now feel better.
Exactly. I love skipping squat days, but I hate having skipped squat days. I might give it a high-bar-ish try later today. Maybe. Still trying to accumulate a sufficient pile of excuses.

Something like "The dog ate the bumper plates"

I'm sure there's an app for that.

Finished up Monday's workout.

Squat 45x10, 145x5, 235x3, 275x1, 315x5x3. Finally back to three plates squatting. It seems like the adductor injury has healed, making room for other niggles.

20 minutes plus a few to put the plates away and catch my breath.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

It seems like injuries like to rotate around....can't ever just not have one. What's up with that?

Good work peez I'm almost back to tricycle land with you....2 more squat workouts and I will be there.

So I took Thanksgiving off. Thankful for the break.

Today is catchup day - DL & Bench
DL 45x5, 145x5, 235x3, 325x5, 375x1, 405x 5 singles. A tad easier than last week, but no picnic.
Bench 135x5, 185x5, 225x5x2, 185x10. Just barely made the last rep of the second set. Feels good to be repping again, 225 though.

Looks like I have a trainingspartner at the office now - a former wrestler. And a couple colleagues asked if I could show them the main lifts. Although I'm not really qualified to be teaching, which I told them, I hope I can prevent the worst mistakes and steer them to an SSC or a seminar.

Today was press day - 22 minutes, have to take longer breaks now.

45x10, 135x5, 165x1, 205x2, 185x5x2

Tomorrow is squat day - and some volume benching if I still have the energy ... slowly I am getting used to work out in the afternoon.

@peez When do you typically work out? I always liked early afternoon or in the early evening. Early evening especially if I didn't have to work that day. Nice and fresh with a couple of meals down the pipe makes for good workouts.

Nice session dude!
Hope you enjoy your mentoring/coaching. I know when I ran my wife & then a friend through the lifts, it was a lot tougher than I thought it'd be and I spent a lot of it looking for the right words to describe stuff I obviously took for granted.

I used to work out twice a week about two hours after dinner - 8PM or so, in my garage - but a month ago I started using the fancy brand new gym at the office, popping down there four times a week early afternoon for a quick session. I think evenings are easier for me, but four quick sessions are more efficient and leave me with more family time.

I think I might be able to add a few pounds to the bar if I resumed working out at home - just seems a better time for me.

Yeah, it's more social and the folks are nice ... I've only had four formal coaching sessions (with SSCs) and now I know what value they bring through their experience and offering the right cues at the same time. It's good to get yelled at.

I've been coaching Judo for a while (after being a student for 30 years) ... which makes me more careful about offering too much advice about lifting, where I really don't know squat.

So this wraps up the week for me. I was dawdling, took 38 minutes.

Squat 45x5, 135x5, 225x3, 275x1, 325x5x3
Bench 45x10, 135x10, 200x8x3 for volume

Now I'm ready for the weekend (or rather, a nap ...)

Happy Monday! Spent 34 minutes this time.

DL 145x5, 235x3, 325x1, 385x1, 415x3 singles.
Bench 45x10, 135x5, 185x1, 230x5,5,3 Ran out of stream in the last set.

All in all a good session. Will stay with these weights for a week or two. Eventually, I'll switch to a 5/3/1 scheme or something similar, but first I need to get the squat up a little more.

Squat day. I dun wanna!

zip x stuff. 45x10, 145x5, 235x3, 285x1, 325x5x3. Wanted to repeat last week.

Then F^4* - dips BW x 10x3, just to get started on these again.

So I've been thinking of starting 8/5/2 cycle for press and bench, now that increases are slowing down. Just have to figure out good starting weights. DL and squat will hopefully continue to creep up, I'll take it slow.

Maybe pressing 165x8, 180x5, 200x2 - and benching 190x8, 210x5, 235x2 which is a slight reset. Or I'll wait another week ... but I will have to adjust real soon.

Thank you, sir. I really don't know :?: . But at the same time, my bench has always sucked eggs relative to the press. Who knows. I'll just soldier on!
