Been a while since I visited the forum. Been doing a high rep workout inspired from one of mythical’s squat protocol posts. Got a 200 lbs x21 rep personal best.

@Famendoza1981, that’s great work. I was surprised watching the video to see that you barely increased the pause between reps as the set went on - I was sure that at some point you’d have to turn to “breathing squats,” but no. Wow.
Also, thank you for sharing that link. I don’t think there’s necessarily any magic in the protocol, in that I think you could make up nearly any ridiculous intensity based routine and progress if you’re actually able to go fully balls deep once or twice a week and get adequate rest. I’m very interested in the idea of not locking out at the top and recently nearly posted about that very matter in the stupid questions thread. I’ve been playing with that a bit on my work ups, finding that it’s much easier to keep every rep exactly the same when not having to initiate from fully standing / locked, and of course it pumps the legs and glutes up wonderfully.
Where were you when you started this? Have your legs gotten bigger?

Hey, sorry it’s been a while since I posted. To answer the two questions, I was trying to find a way to do hypertrophy/strength/maxing with blocks and I found mythical’s article which made sense from a hypertrophy point of view. However instead of using something I could do for 6 reps, I choose to use 2/3 of my 1rep max and build up to 20+ reps. I feel like I enjoy this type of workout, as long as the load is around that percentage. Any heavier and it’s not fun and likely not effective for me.
I don’t know if my legs have gotten bigger but I feel like I can do more reps with weights even up to 95% of my 1rep max, so it helps with more reps. Will see if the method will carry over to 1 rep max strength.

New PR before I drove my fam to a rented RV up north.
Squat 215 lbs x21 reps
Very nice!
Ditto!
Brave man.
Thanks guys. I did my best effort yet with grilling burgers, but failed miserably toasting marshmallow for s’mores. My mallows got burnt. But my burgers were delish. Le sigh!
