It was a professional development day, so us teachers were in the building on zoom in meetings all day - a perfect day for random sets of chinups during the breaks.alek wrote: ↑Sat Oct 30, 2021 2:35 pmVery nice!! Re: PR THREAD OF AWESOMENESS!!!
Not quite exactly a PR, but I deadlifted over twice my body weight for the first time a few days ago (325 at 161.0). I've done 330, but weighed more at the time.

Re: PR THREAD OF AWESOMENESS!!!
I feel lame even posting this since it’s so commonplace here, but I finally hit a four plate DL. (Well, more accurately, a 405 lb DL since I got lazy with loading and it was three plates plus a 25 and two 10s on each side.)
I had been moving up in 2.5 lb increments over the past few weeks but jumped from 397.5 to 405 because I was feeling great and would have been so pissed if I fucked up my back again at say 400 and had to start over…again.
Was shocked at how easy it moved. Think I had at least 420 or so had I gone for it.
Please don’t judge my exclamation at the top.

A PR is a PR. If it's more than what you've lifted before, it's worth celebrating.DCR wrote: ↑Wed Nov 03, 2021 8:18 pm

One of my own personal favorite milestones is cracking four plates on the deadlift.
Anyway, congratulations. It looked smooth as fuck.

@Wilhelm, congratulations!
I can’t see the video either - whether I watch the embedded video or open it in youtube, I can see that it’s about 5.5 hours originally, but once it starts playing there’s only 4 hours of video. (As in exactly 4 hours - it cuts off there, on the dot.) Really odd.

Yeah that was quick, @Wilhelm!
I applaud your restraint in not pulling (the metric equivalent) of 495 or 500#

Re: PR THREAD OF AWESOMENESS!!!
Thank you. : )
Going in i knew i could almost certainly squat 192.5kg , and for sure i could have.
But i told myself even before meet day to stick to the script.
To get to top 10 all years for my age/weight, i would have needed 535kg total.
115kg bench almost didn't go, so i would have had to risk a lot on 3rd squat to even set up a possibility of getting that total with an also risky 3rd pull.
I will say that now after 5 meets, i am beginning to have "data" on the fact that a taper really works, and i can lean on that some for selections in meets going forward where goals may be a little different.
Once i get top 10, and my 500lb pull, i will be able to chase specific lifts in a more risky manner.
That will be fun as well.
But i really like how every meet i have done exactly what i set out to do.
I did yolo 227.5kg on my last pull last meet, as i had hit my goal total on 2nd.
First lift i've ever missed at a meet, and i'm glad i did it even though i knew i had no business loading that weight at that point.
But this time, had i missed my 3rd, i would have failed to meet my goal for the meet.

And now 410. Moved a lot slower, though, surprisingly so. Prob a sign to knock it off and base build for a bit so I’m gonna go do that.
Nice to get the 2x BW pull, though.

Re: PR THREAD OF AWESOMENESS!!!
Just front squat 315 for five. Which is nice except now I have to do it for 3*3 when I can peel myself off this bench. Which isn't as nice.

Re: PR THREAD OF AWESOMENESS!!!
That is impressive.
Very nice work indeed.

So not for nothing, just realised my previous best DL triple was a one off 405 about a year ago.
Guess it makes sense that those six sets with 408 felt heavy yesterday.
Not that i ever really test triples as single sets, but this block is off to a good start.
