Re: Augeleven’s log
Yep, agreed. That's for sure more difficult than if you had touched. I see no reason to disqualify it because it came a fraction away from touching the floor.
I can see why you don't look forward to the day of the deadlift. That's a difficult session. I've never been able to sustain 2 deadlift variants on the same day for more than a couple of sessions before rethinking it. Good stuff!

Re: Augeleven’s log
Agreed. I try to soft touch most of my reps, mostly to avoid waking the boys, but 405x7 is legit strronk.

Re: Augeleven’s log
Thanks for the deadlift comments, gents
Log is messed. Life stress is a lot, so I’ve cut back on things
Tuesday skipped my run and slept - off day
Yesterday - GGBB 2.2.2
Squat 275x5@dissapointing, x3,3,2,2
Superset with dips
BWx10,+10x10, +chains x10x3,x8 BW x10
BARNC GX9,Ox10,10
Superset with
Chins BW x10x3
Today
Treadmill
1.5 miles in 18 minutes
When I run outside I start hating the treadmill. I might just have to move runs to 5am. Probably help my diet, because it would incentivize me to go to sleep earlier
Diet is going better. Weekly avg calories is 2600, but I gotta get through the weekend and I’ll be in the city a bunch.

Re: Augeleven’s log
Log update:
After a late night rehearsal Friday night, I did
GGBB 2.2.3
Press 2 min rests
120x5@.5
x3,3,2,2
incline db bench
50s x10,12,10,10,8
Chin-ups
bw x11,x8x4
Saturday I didn't move much at all.
Sunday I tried deadlifting, but canned it after the first warmup set.
I'm not sure what's going on but I am constantly short of breath and have achy joints, specifically my left knee and right shoulder. I assume I have some kind of long covid thing going on? I just went to the Dr last week and got a clean bill of health. I'm not sure if the knee thing is linked to feeling generally crummy, or if I'm developing some new kind of niggle. Either way, I'm going to put lifting on fluff time: do what I want when I want to. I'm calling it a pivot block, and I'll resume GZCL when I feel up to it.
That means benching, probably HVLF stuff. back work, machine work. Probably should do more ab stuff, since I tend to skip it. Gonna take the week off running. might do some walking, but I might not. Probably should practice more.

Weekly diet update
Week 1
Today's weight trend: 211.1
Avg. trend difference: 0.00 change (whoops)
Avg calories 2860
Expenditure - 3284
Should have seen more bodyweight drop. I assume I'll see some this week if I stick to eating around 2500.

Re: Augeleven’s log
Sorry to hear you're feeling crummy. Sometimes just doing stuff to keep doing stuff is the best program for the moment. Hope your pivot block is a raging success, punctuated by a sudden, rapid weight loss, shedding all the water weight that malevolently masked your real weight. Get a bucket and soap ready to clean your shirt on those new washboard abs!

Re: Augeleven’s log
I've had this since 2021. I sometimes wonder if covid related, but I had it for a much briefer period in 2018 or so, so much more likely anxiety.

Re: Augeleven’s log
212.5/211.3
Pivot block day 2 at the Y
Started warming up the squat
135 I felt the tendons grinding in my left knee. Squatting is out
Press out of the rack
115x3
125x3x3
— ss w/—
NGPU
bw x12,8,x6x5
Wide grip paused bench
185x5x4 could have gone lighter here
lateral raise machine
60x15 too light
70x12,11,9
60x10
Pec deck
140x15,10,8
DB RDL
100s x8x2 no knee issues here. Basically a grip exercise.
Including carrying these to a different part of the gym away from the weirdo teenage flex-bros

Re: Augeleven’s log
its been an awful week.
Body still feels broken. Wife is in the hospital - maybe she gets out today. Stressful concerts and work stuff
I spent the week just trying to heal and live. Knee is still weirdly weak at times. Foot still hurts. Shoulder seems better
Yesterday I took both of the girls to their Y activities, so I had two 45 minute gym sessions. The goal was to see what hurt and what didn't.
First block
dumbbell incline bench
50s x10
60s x10,10,9
50s x10
dumbbell incline flyes
30s x6
20s x8,8
Pullups
bw x11,1 wow these dropped off quickly...
Lat pulldown, narrow chin-up grip
70x10,10
Triceps Pushdown
42.5x16,12
Lateral raise machine
70x10
80x10
90x8,7
70x10
Rear delt row machine
70x10
110x10
130x8,6
treadmill
2 minutes @5mph no foot pain but I was exhausted.
2nd block
Smith machine squat
90x10
140x5,5
160x5
These were harder than I would have thought, but the smith machine lets gets AtG and put a lot of stress on the legs
Squat, beltless in running shoes
135x7
185x5
225x3x3
Feeling very weak here, BUT - no weird knee pain doing the movement.
Seated leg curl
130x12,10,16 - this was probably too heavy
Leg extension
140x10
130x12,8
Cable curl
42.5x15,10
35x10,8
Preacher curl
30x18,15
Back extension
+45 x18
Not sure what the plan will be going forward. I have lost so much fitness that these workouts are leaving me winded.
I'm leaning towards doing a simpler 3 day setup
Something like
Monday - at the Y
Squat and Bench sticking with a weight and trying to add reps
Chest, back and biceps
Wednesday
Press for volume
Deadlift to a top set
Back, Shoulders and tris
Friday
SSB squat and NG bench
Whatever else I want to do
Tues,Thurs,Sat - cardio (hopefully jogging)

Re: Augeleven’s log
Sorry to hear about your troubles. Hope your wife is ok and recovers quickly. I think your simple setup looks good. Whenever it comes to pain, I think intensity is the first thing to crank way down, so your plan to add reps rather than weight seems reasonable, too. Hope you start feeling better as well.

Re: Augeleven’s log
Wife is officially out of hospital - have a game plan for continued treatments, so the fingers are crossed and we are optimistic.
Got in a late morning something
Cambered NG bench, wide grip
160x10x4,x6
SSB squat, beltless
150x4,8,10 I might have done a 4th set of 12, but I can’t remember
