I got a camelcamelcamel alert about this today. That's a damn good price. (I should stop price watching things that I've already purchased. It can be painful.)

The OB86B is back down to $125 or so, or it was the other day. That's pretty good. I got one for $99. I haven't seen it that low since.

I have no willpower. I just saw this and ordered the CAP hex bar for $65. I haven't even been thinking about wanting one of these, but I just couldn't pass that up! I am tall and squats suck (see thread in main training subforum), so maybe this will help.

It's a fine trap bar. I put racket tape over the knurling. It's a little too aggressive. . . . There will probably be some rust on the handle welds. Just paint those spots. It's not going to rust out for a long while.

Looking for:

-Open design
-Rackable
-Long enough sleeves to load ~6 standard steel plates on each side
-Can use regular collars on it.

I understand that I might not get all of that within the price range, but hoping to get most of it.

Rep Fitness open trap bar should be out in the next six months, looks to be similar specs to kabuki and I would guess? rackable; Price will likely be below $500.00 - but who knows.

I have the Rogue trap bar. I enjoy it. It is nice and wide in the middle. You can load lots of plates. It has low grips or can be flipped over for higher grips. Only down side is normal collars don't fit on it.

I'll give an endorsement to the bells of steel trap bar as a budget option for the open trap bar. At $275 it's just what I was looking for.

It's 25mm bar and the finish had some imperfections, but for what you get at the price, I'm happy. Good enough knurl, sleeves are reasonably quiet (I lift directly underneath my 3yo's bedroom), and I love the jack/stand feature. It's a time/back saver and speed-of-workout is a priority for me these days.

Only thing keeping me back is Rep is releasing their trap bar soon and I'm curious what pricing will be (more than $200 for sure)

I don't like the 27.5" spacing between handles. Seems very wide. I guess the Kabuki has adjustable handles at 23,25,and 27". Rep says they will come up with other handle options in the future, but that's just more $$.

Pretty disappointed with this. Rep is supposed to be the Chinese manufacturing company that at least doesn't blatantly copy a real American company's design. It's clear thsi took so long ot launch because they were working with lawyers to minimize chance of losing a lawsuit to Kabuki or Eleiko.

They haven't really added anything innovative except easily removable handles and knurling for squats (why would anyone use it like that anyway other than novelty or if it's you're only bar?). Yes they did significantly undercut the price with their cheaper Chinese manufacturing but that's the only real reason to buy it IMO. Plus you'll have to wait for better handle spacing (and it will cost you another $50-$100 I'm sure, putting the price closer to Kabuki).

Oh well. You have to miss sometimes. The other new products they launched are pretty innovative. I'll probably purchase the V2 of that yoke/rack/farmer carry (I need a bigger house first).
