So I realize that's on an Elephant Bar (or at least a makeshift version of it) but surely he'll be breaking Eddie's 500kg record sometime soon, right? Or at least he could, probably lots of negotiations to be done. I imagine they (the strongman promoters) would want to make a big event of it, and Thor would want to cash in as much as possible (don't blame him at all).

He did 473 before the Arnold last year, pulled it in competition as a second attempt and got 501 just off the floor. They've been hyping this for a while and Rogue Record-Breakers purse was 50.000 last year iirc.

Right but the elephant bar is a different record, isn't it?

Yup. No suit though. This Makarov guy is close.

He's definitely in the ballpark for this... that was fast...

He's gonna smoke 501 by the looks of that.

Kind of off topic, but I noticed him keeping thumbs over with his straps. Is that common? Is that why guys have their straps break? I’ve never even thought of holding the bar any way but how I would do it without straps.

With figure 8's? Yeah... I do the same thing... I can get my thumbs around with the 8's but it's not exactly comfortable. I don't think it contributes much if it all to strap failures, and I can't think of a time I've seen a pair of 8's break...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that he's going to get 501. I think he could even go above 501 from the training videos that I've seen.

Watching the live feed now on Rogue's YouTube, they just finished weight the plates and are interviewing Magnus Ver Magusson currently before it kicks off.

He looks promising. Way more fit than Eddie did.

What will Eddie talk about if Thor pulls it?

I think that he will congratulate him and be as political as he can, but will also probably make some comment about how it should have been done in a oomp.

Yep. He made that look easy. None of the drama like Eddie had following his lift. I find Eddie very entertaining, but imagine he’s raging right now. Hopefully, Thor goes for more in a few minutes, as he said he’s going to drop weight after today.
