Rip: “I don’t know anyone else who presses 300, and neither do you.”

Except tons of Strongmen, including Matt Wanat, who has done it in WFAC

There would be a lot more 300 lb pressers if it was a contested lift (outside of USSF)

I know it would be a logistical nightmare, but I always thought it'd be cool if overhead press was added as a 4th lift at PL meets.

I went back and checked, and I’m pretty sure I got that quote wrong, but he is lamenting the press like it’s some long forgotten relic from a a bygone era when it’s a staple of literally every strongman contest. People are still putting things over their heads, and they’re still amazingly strong at it.

Even a whole lotta bro’s are doing it in the gym because of StSt and Wendler and even YouTubers like Alan and Omar. Once it shows up in CrossFit (thrusters don’t count), then it will REALLY be back.

Meh, doesn't count because strongman is like the Happy Gilmore of lifting...

I’m not 100% sure what that means, but I’m 80% sure I’d wear it on a t-shirt.

So you want PL'rs doing crossfit? 12 reps now? LOLOLOLOLOLOL
Because that's what adding a 4th lift is gonna do.

notice the wide grip.

I don't think its in this guys best interest to take the narrow ass grip, or, that he even could.

Its seems to me SOME (few) take an overly narrow grip, and the bar winds up being out in front of them, causes them to lean back more in a way....or arch their back, or something to stay in balance.

Where as if you take just a little bit wider grip, and rotate shoulders around while keeping your elbow closed as much as possible (viewed looking down on you from over top), and the bar magically gets closer to your chest/clavicles. Seems more in balance when viewed from the side.

Serge was only 5'8" and 300+lbs.
I was never impressed by this man.

World records he broke (I assume these are his top lifts):
Snatch:
182.5 kg - 1973 Brussel

Clean & Jerk:
222.0 kg - 1970 Herbeumont
226.5 kg - 1970 La Roche

Clean & Press:
215.0 kg - 1970 Herbeumont
218.5 kg - 1970 Zwevegem
228.0 kg - 1971 Lima (Peru)
pretty sad really, if you think about it.

Can limbo push press 228? but can't C&J the same.
182 snatch lol for a SHW.

Golden strength era???

(Probably a Roid factor here too no one is going to talk about.)

Bullshit. That was a strict press after a clean.

I'm not sure because they didn't mention it. Do you/did you have to be strong to live in Iceland?

I still think this is the most impressive overhead press I've ever seen:

No leg drive or bendy limbo tricks, just goes straight up, nice and smooth.

If @TimK would gain like 100lbs he could probably hang with them.
