So probably it's alright, might be better, still lots of sugar?
Also, didn't click, but what kind of placebo are you going to use for chocolate milk? Chocolate-flavored water with some sort of thickening agent?

They've had some protein enriched chocolate milk at Costco lately that I've been tempted to try. Probably delicious.

Overall, the evidence is limited and high-quality clinical trials with more well-controlled methodology and larger sample sizes are warranted.

I, for one, will continue to drink chocolate milk before working out, if possible, because I don't need more hamfisted SCIENCE to tell me that carbs and fats and protein are good things to have going into a workout.

yeah, its kind of a nonbrainer
Milk has protein, and carbs. (about equal grams IIRC).
Maybe chocolate milk has a little more sugar(carbs) added to it.
I bet a lot of "newer" commercially marketed choc.milk is made with 2% milk, to keep calories down on the label.

Chocolate milk makes you happy.
Reading a study saying that choco.milk is good for you makes you happy.
You just worked out, so you feel happy about accomplishing something,
as you gulp down a drink marketed for 6 year old kids.
Maybe I will put off killing my neighbor until tomorrow now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

...better than drinking the whey-chalk-powder-shit-that-wouldn't-mix we had back in the 90's.
