Re: USSF - upcoming meets
Glad to see USSF doing more meets. Interesting to see three SS gyms hosting meets by an organization headed by Tom C, a BBM coach.

Re: USSF - upcoming meets
I recently spoke to our dear Tomrade Campitelli, and the Fall Classic in Oakland is tentatively scheduled (but not officially scheduled) for Sunday October 28.
I'm tempted to go, but it will depend on logistics of my work situation.

Having just met the awesome Katherine Bickford, I was thinking about going and volunteering to load and such.

Is SS still associated with USSF?

Re: USSF - upcoming meets
I suppose its a question of what "SS" means... my SS gym (Atlanta Barbell) is definitely doing a USSF meet, but WFAC is doing a "Starting Strength" meet.. implicitly a competing fed with 1 participating gym I guess? madness.
ETA: SS lists all of the USSF meets on their site, but the same is not true for USSF's events page (doesn't list WFAC's meet)

Re: USSF - upcoming meets
I knew that part I meant what "Starting Strength" means in Manveer's question. i.e. the Starting Strength gyms seem to be holding USSF meets, so the community still seems to be aligned with USSF. It seems like WFAC is the only thing not aligned since even the SS.com site lists USSF meets. So it seems like a pretty weird difference between SS the brand/community and specifically WFAC where SS is headquartered.

Re: USSF - upcoming meets
The relationship does seem ambiguous at the moment, doesn't it?
To my understanding, the USSF Board/Committee/whatever is entirely composed of current (and former?) SSCs. The head honcho is Tom C, but there are others as well.
I take it that the WFAC meet is a "Starting Strength" "strengthlifting" meet that is not sanctioned by the USSF.

Re: USSF - upcoming meets
Apparently, there's now a WFAC "Starting Strength Strengthlifting Championship", a two day long meet. It is explictly not sanctioned by the USSF. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2019-start ... 5947608534
Additionally, this time, the rules have been written and revised by only Mark Rippetoe whatever that means. https://www.wfac-gym.com/wp-content/upl ... -final.pdf
Back to USSF, I really hope the federation continues to put on good meets!

I think the Open division is something that debuted at Tom's USSF Nationals in January.

Also, no music, and you can be disqualified if you bleed on the bar.

Re: USSF - upcoming meets
Also I just got this when I tried to go to usstrengthlifting.com, but usstrengthlifting.com/meets, /rules, /membership, and /records still works.
