Protein in Merry Ole England

What's a carb? A car part? What's a macro? A type of camera lens?

Protein in Merry Ole England

#1

Post by torkins » Sat May 26, 2018 9:39 am

I'll be setting down for a week in the Covent Garden area of London today. I find that buying non-garbage whey protein here in Atlanta takes some doing, I expect its probably the same there. I don't know any of the store chains there (except my former shitty client Sainsbury's) so I don't know what kind of place has a high likelihood of having decent stuff.

Any suggestions from any Exodus members across the pond?

Cheerio, govs!

Holland & Barrett... you'll probably find quite a few other health stores in the area.

Getting Protein won't be difficult.

The last time I went to London I ordered whey from http://amazon.co.uk so that it would be there when I arrived.

Yea if you need it in short order then Holland and barrat is probably the best bet for walking in and buying it. If you’re ordering online protein dynamics is where I’ve been getting from lately as they usually have a code available to get the price down to around £8-9/kg

MyProtein is pretty good for bulk; they virtually always have some kind of sale on and if you apply discount codes effectively you can get a 5kg thing for £8-9 per kilo, sometimes even less.

m8 r u FUKKIN srs chocolate brownie is vastly superior and i will fukkin FITE u swear on me mum

Serious Post: The one irritating thing about MyProtein is that the actual proton content between flavours can be quite divergent. And some of the ones that are better on proton content are undeniably horrible on flavour. The 'unflavoured' one literally tastes of rancid milk. Buying a 5kg bag was quite possibly the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life, not counting the master's degree, the career choice, and the Texas Method.

I have some of the unflavored but I have never had it with just water. I got it to mix with other stuff and it has been fine for that.

My standard operating procedure is whey+skyr unflavoured+milk (water if I have to and the flavour isn't too disgusting.)

For the unflavoured I resorted to mixing it into porridge, which worked quite well. Resulting combo was incredibly rich though.

I typically just mix a couple of scoops (chocolate smooth) with water and slam it. The whole point for me is to get maximum protein with minimum calories. I'll occasionally use milk if it's the last meal of the day and I have the extra calories left to spare. I have mixed the unflavored whey with diet soda in a blender (Rippetoe-style, I'm hesitant to admit) and it was fine. I think I might have used ice to thicken it up.

The skyr does the thickening in mine, plus it's a good extra whack of protein (16.5g a serving with only 6g of carbs, brah!) for not much money (3 tubs for £3 at Tesco.)

I should probably cut back on the milk, but it does make the whole thing a great deal more palatable. And it's even more protein for not very much money.

I drink myprotein unflavoured with water, it's my voluntary hardship. Might try it with natural yoghurt, I eat quite a lot of that anyway.
