Dumbbell Row

Bench

Wife has the c'rona

Other than some gastrointestinal distress occasionally and the really bad fatigue people talk about she seems alright. Very low energy, and a bit weak from having basically no appetite. So no training for me yesterday as I was busy trying to be super dad while she crashed.

Managed to get yesterday's in today while her and the kid napped but no strongman stuff this weekend. Whatever, it's a deload anyway.

Felt like I could have gone heavier on the rows but only on my right side. My left side got kinda pissy at 145...

Deadlift

Squat
275x5, 320x5, 370x7

Split Squat
135x10x3

Probably a side effect of my extra day off but everything felt pretty good... except split squats fuck them but I thought it might be beneficial to swap in some quads where I was normally doing hammies...

Edit: wife is pretty much officially over it btw

Press AMRAP was unexpected. I didn't even have belts on. Figured I had a solid 8-9 based on how the 5's felt but they just kept going...

Inverted Row
4x10

Bench

Once again my AMRAP set explodes over the sets of 5...

Not sure how I feel about the inverted row... called the audible because I wanted a closer antagonist to benching than DB stuff...

What are you thinking of doing instead on inverted row? I am finding that pullovers are hitting my lats in weird and wonderful ways, surprisingly to me.

I dunno, I might just hang onto em and weigh them with some plates on my chest or something. Pull ups seemed to be causing or aggravating some shit in my other shoulder.

Training took a back seat yesterday. Had to get started on this fence construction and I've been doing Friday OTs to pay for it and I just didn't feel right prioritizing training over doing the work.

Got my corners set and the gate built, went relatively smooth until I upset a bunch of ground bees I didn't notice and got stung like 6 or so times. Swelling in my neck and leg have come down but my forearm is currently at Popeye levels... hopefully it will come down throughout the day so I don't have to try and get some epinephrine or something...

Not gonna lie... kinda starting to feel like I might put off regular training until this fence is done.

Feeling a bit under the gun on it and now that it's started it's literally all I can think about doing.

Normally I'd be excited for deadlifts Monday I can't get running this new auger we got to finish up the posts out of my brain.

EDIT:

This is precisely what I did, and (hopefully) it paid off. Was able to get all the remaining posts dug and set. Top rails and tension wire are next. Should be all set to start stretching the chain link fabric by Friday...

The good news. Fence is finished. Back to training.

The bad news. Orange Elite car deadlift nix'd in favor of a 13" axle deadlift... color me bummed...

Well, that sucks. The training wouldn't even overlap well, honestly, the form is too different.

I mean I guess it's a good thing to know now before I got to specific...

I'll get some up a little later but let's set some honest expectations because it's just chain link lol

It's fun to play find the errors though

13" Axle Deadlift
405x5. 455x5, 495x3x3, 495x5

Squat
290x3, 345x3, 390x3

What was supposed to be a return to normalcy was anything but. Our van's power steering decided to take a shit Sunday afternoon, so I took the day off to (at least try to) put in the new line. When it became apparent that wasn't happening, I decided to (try to) splice in some hose to patch it and at least get it to the shop. Four quarts of ATF4 blown all over my driveway later I accepted defeat and I'm now trying to find someone to come pick the piece of shit up.

Put in the bare minimum just to say I did something, but after a sleepless night thanks to our youngest and having a grand total of one meal around 7:00 am training at 4:00 pm in the heat/humidity just felt like dog shit...

Edit: between the stress and the inconsistent eating I've lost about 10 lbs over the course of the past week... which is probably more of a net positive than a negative lol

So I'm learning something I already knew this week, which is that I'm not a dude who benefits from time offs. I am highly dependent on momentum in training. Even a week off feels derailed and everything feels like shit.

The only slot that didn't get edited was the JMs lol

When I was in highschool, Metallica playing meant an empty school the day of the show, and the day after if it was a weekday concert. Nobody's parents or kids went. We would not have imagined it becoming a "Family" concert.... of course that was before the Black album.

LOL someone at work asked if I thought it would be "safe" to take my kids and I had to explain how it wasn't the late 80's any more and that it was very family friendly.

13" Deadlift
315x5, 385x3, 455x2, 485x1, 515x1, 545x6

Squat
315x5, 365x3, 405x5

Yoke EMOM 60ft
400x8

Felt like I actually trained

Didn't bother with the axle today because loading a regular bar is easier with a jack on the blocks and honestly I don't find it much more difficult....

545 is 95% contest weight now...
