Rough day, let RPE guide the squat after I hit a @10 way too early... frickin burned out early on the close grip too, ended up pushing the last rep forward and got stuck... bleh...

Deadlift - 525x1/455x1x5

Presses were DOG SHIT today. Holy crap. Should have been 3x3. Shameful work on my part. Loose all over and kept getting stuck. I also almost blacked out like 5 frickin times today, so maybe there were other horrors at play...

No training today, mock meet tomorrow to test a few singles before I put the pedal to the metal for Strongest Man in the Forest 12... and of course my plague-rat children have infected me with some sort of sinus bug that has sapped me of life precious and I am experiencing gastrointestinal distress this morning so I can't wait to see how tomorrow goes...

AYF Summer Strength Challenge Online Meet

Bodyweight: 235.7

Squat - 455 / 475 (PR) /485 (Fail)

Bench - 340 / 355 (PR) / 365 (PR)

Deadlift - 550 / 575 / 605 (PR)

Cool day, only bummer was missing 485, my fault. Let my back round and the bar rolled too high. If I could have stopped it I would have muscled it up for sure.

Good feeler for the USSF in Oct... looking to crack 500 and maybe (just maybe) put up 625...

It wouldn't be a contest if there wasn't some form of hardship leading up to it lol. I seem to wind up either sick or injured somehow right before...

Log seems to still be chugging along... we will see in the coming weeks.

Probably should have stopped at 225 on the log if I wanted to keep it in the prescribed RPE... but I had to try/get 245. Threw me off balance, if I could have not had to stumble around under it I think (from a strength perspective) it would have been within range... oh well, didn't kill me, still cool...

^ dead treadmill sprints. I was gonna try and rig a tree stand harness for sled pulls but battery on the wife's truck was dead so... no driveway. All part of trying to get ready for this truck pull.

Sled Drags - 180x8 @60ft

Wonky schedule coming up this week...

Sled worked really well though... not an ideal setup, but well enough. Basically it's a tire with an eye bolt through it, some tow-rope tied to that... rope is looped to itself with a carabiner (to take up some distance) through an old tree stand harness I had. Basically I put the leg straps from the harness around my shoulders (fall arrest harness pulls UP, so it has to be inverted), and another carabiner keeps them from separating. Should be good for a few hundred pounds. I loaded it to about 180 (estimate the tire is 20lbs) and it held up.

When is your contest? You’re hitting some good presses... I have a comp on the 15th and my log press has been real hit or miss.
