Prolly gonna be the last week I do any more 'max effort' bench/squat stuff... we're about 7 weeks out now so it's time to start focusing a bit more on pushing up my log and reps on deadlift...

Not at all worth logging every week but as the weather gets (slightly) warmer I'm gonna start taking walks more frequently. Definitely Wednesdays on my break. Basically down and around from the gas station to grab a Reign is ~a mile or so. Throughout the week occasionally as a way to get the boys out of the house and away from video games for a while too...

Will it make a difference? Who knows...

4/1/2021

Max Reps Axle Deadlift
(95% contest weight)
525x6, 475x6x2

Barbell Rows (from floor)
315x8x3

T Bar Rows
135x12x4, 135x16

Leg Extensions w/ Band
25x4
(in hindsight I should have picked pull throughs or something)

If anyone following along wants to know, my idea of 'max reps' in training is to go to about a @9 or until stuff starts to break down a bit. In this case I was starting to hitch, and there was a rep or so in there before I'd be in danger of actually failing.

The back off sets I aimed to (at least) match the reps but stop around an @8, before there's any breakdown...

No lie I was 227 on Wed so glad to be back at baseline lol

Max Log Press w/ Sleeves
245x1, 260x1, 270x1

Seated Shoulder Press
135x8, 165x8, 185x8x3

EZ Bar French Press
85x12x4

Single Arm Preacher Curl
35x12x3

Face Pulls
25x3

Had some friends from out of town drop by so I didn't have time for a full 'event day' like I typically would plan. Just basically worked up to a heavy viper single and then did some extra upper stuff. Aiming for 275+ at the contest so hitting 270 today is a confidence builder...

A note about something I'm considering...

My experiment with making a sub-$20 throw bag has been a failure...

But today I accidentally discovered close grip power snatches getting that curl bar overhead... I didn't know those were an actual thing...

But now that I do...

🤔

I haven't noticed any significant training effect from walks, but they definitely seem to be a mood enhancer.

Yeah I highly doubt there's gonna be any training effect, but if it keeps me more active and I can pass it off as doing some sort of cardio I'll chalk it up as a positive...

Training took a back seat today to finishing up this project... mistakes were made, we went way over budget, and my knees/hammies/shoulders are shot but we got it all done with a whole weekend to spare and it came out pretty good for my first time...
