Notes: Had some nasty glute/hip tightness pop up out of no where last Sunday. Got some ART treatment t on it the following Monday that relieved glute tightness, but left me extremely sore in my lower back, quads, and hams. Took lots of Tylenol and Advil to get through my work day. Had another treatment Friday and started to feel better yesterday. Was itching to do something today without pushing things. Hernia repair is tomorrow, so not sure how long before I can begin to do anything. Elbows have been bothering a lot as well. May try and use the downtime to get some treatment and begin getting them healthy again. And I’d also like to work on my mobility and flexibility. My body is just so tight and I know it’s causing g a lot of these issues.

. Had my hernia surgery last Tuesday. I was definitely uncomfortable for a few days, but Advil and Tylenol helped with that. I went back to work on light duty this past Friday. Walked every day since surgery, building up to 3 miles. Did a few 1 minute jogs on a few of those walks.

Last Wednesday and Thursday I went into the garage and did some RFE split squats, DB RDL’s, and Arnold presses with 10 lbs. Thursday I did some BB only squats and press. Dr wanted me in a 25 lb max limit for the week but they felt fine. We also were hit with snow 2x here. My wife shoveled the first storm on Tuesday. I shoveled yesterday just trying to take it easy. Stomach is still swollen and a little uncomfortable. Belly button is also very sore. And I get these sudden stabbing pains out of nowhere, usually at night. Can’t seems to figure out if it’s caused by eating (I don’t think so). I mentioned to surgeon on follow up, and he thinks it is constipation but I am going fairly after and freely. Sorry if that TMI. Definitely starting to get antsy about getting back to 100%.

Good to see you back, Mike. Good for you for getting in there. I legit did nothing for the 4-5 weeks or whatever it is, and later thought it was unnecessary. You get the mesh or no?

Thanks DCR. I hope what I am doing is smarter than nothing. Nothing hurts while doing it or after. And yes, he put in a 9” piece of mesh he said to hopefully prevent future hernias.

Run
1 mile
11:54
163 SPM

Notes: I think I’m ready to start running and lifting again. Had the day off and was in the mood for a bagel. I left the store, and since I was already wearing sweats and sneakers just decided to run in the neighborhood by the bagel shop and it was a really cool little nook. A lot of the houses were on canals, with these small little roads that were more like driveways. Some even had speed bumps without enough room for two cars to pass each other. Some houses were huge, monstrous mini mansions, others small old bungalows, and even a few still abandoned from Hurricane Sandy. All of this not much more than a mile down the road from my own house. I may take my bike when the weather gets nicer and be nosy down some of the other blocks.

HB Squat
Bar x 5,5,5
135 lbs x 5
155 lbs x 5
175 lbs x 5
195 lbs x 5
205 lbs x 5 (belt)

Bench

135 lbs x 5
155 lbs x 5
165 lbs x 5

DL
135 lbs x 5
225 lbs x 5
245 lbs x 5

Notes: Enough of taking it easy. Hernia healing seems to be better. Time to start pushing things a little. Definitely feeling weaker all around, and smaller too. Felt the hernia mostly when I put the belt on for squats, and for all the bench sets. Lying down seems to put a different pressure on the area

I loved these areas when I lived on LI. Future plan was to live in that kind of nook a bit out east (we were in Mineola), but life did what it does and somehow I ended up 1400 miles away.

I like Long Island a lot in the summer, and when I am off from work. Most other times, not so much. It’s basically Queens now. My mom has been to Winthrop hospital more than a few times in the last few years. You can watch a traffic light change 3 times before you get through at certain times of day.
