I had a tiny tear there at the base one time. Since then i've tried getting that skin out of the way. Best i can describe it.
i get some minor abraision there. just a little flake of surface skin maybe.

I may always tape the middle of my thumb though.
It's not possible to get those folds out of the way, and having much callus there may just increase the risk of a tear at some point.

Just that one width of tape is so much easier (for me) to deal with though. And it doesn't look like a kindergartener applied it like when i try and tape the whole thing.
having a better feel for what is actually happening is good for me too.

Here's to learning how to do this. : )
I tried a few different things during warm up for the deads today, but can't say I'm any closer to figuring it out.
Thanks for suggestions on what to do, there has to be a way. Or maybe several different ways. :)

Overhead press:

20 kg x 5 x 5
30 x 5
40 x 3
50 x 1
58 kg x 5 x 3, @ 8 or so I think.

Still trying to figure out the @ stuff.

Rack bench, pins about 1.5" off the chest because it worked out that way:

20 kg x 5 x 2
40 x 5
55 x 3
71 kg x 5 x 5.

Rack bench still feels weird to me. And to my shoulders.

Then we were supposed to do a lot of dumbbell stuff, and I don't have those, so instead I did:

Close Grip Bench back off:
55 kg x 10 x 3.

and

Press back off:
45 kg x 10, 10, 9 + 1.

All in all a pretty good day.

Squat day, part one.

SQ:
20 kg x 5 x 5
50 x 5
75 x 3
100 x 1
125 x 1
140 kg x 2 x 3

Not too bad, I'd guess @ 8, 8, 9.

100 kg x 10

That was all I had time for today, I have to do the rest tomorrow.

Nice bench PR! Plus a ton of reps afterwards. Are things holding up well?

Thanks Matt!

Yeah, everything seems to be holding up just fine, which is a relief, to be honest. Enjoying them positive waves. :D

Today was deadlift day.

Deads:

50 kg x 5 x 2
75 x 3
100 x 1
125 x 1
150 x 1
170 x 1
185 kg x 2. This was a hook grip PR for me. And yes, my thumbs are fine.
185 kg x 2 x 2. Used straps for these.

Somehow I managed to pull/stretch something om my right side during the first ( hook grip ) work set. I didn't feel any pain during the second or third set, only between sets. I have decided it is nothing serious, and have taken some ibuprofen. Life is good.

Front squat: nothing. So I can't front squat. There is just no room for the bar between my shoulders and my larynx. Or I am doing it wrong, one.

Instead I did regular squats:

Squats:
20 kg x 5 x 2
50 x 5
75 x 3
100 x 1
120 x 1
130 kg x 3 x 3.

Sometime during the squat warm-ups I discovered I was still wearing my flat deadlift shoes, but I was too lazy to change to the squat shoes. Squats felt fine using the flat shoes.

RDLs: 70 kg x 10 x 5.

Andy's programming was a lot of GPP, instead I did these Romanian deads.

So all in all a pretty good day, made two-rep hook grip deads PR, and I will never again try front squats. So be it.

Ooh. 185 is nice.
I'm hoping/expecting to be in that neighborhood for my test Saturday.

Hook grip FTW!

Congratulations on the nice PR, @slowmotion

Thanks!

My hook grip deadlift PR is getting closer to my alternate grip PR.
Honestly for me just holding onto the bar with hook grip at 185kg was something to be celebrated.

Hey nice pulls Jan! Massive shoulders from all the pressing so you can't front squat is a good problem to have. :)

OHP:

20 kg x 5 x 5
30 x 5
40 x 3
50 x 1
60 x 1
66.5 kg x 2 x 3 @ 8.5 - 9

I missed this weight on the last cycle, this time around it was all right.

More OHP:

53 kg x 8 @ 8.5
53 kg x 8 @ 8
53 kg x 8 @ 8
53 kg x 8 @ 8
53 kg x 8 @ 8.5 Or so.

This was all right. It was getting heavier again on the fifth set so I stopped after that.

Side delt raises with a 5 kg plate in each hand:

5 x 20 x 5

French press:

20 kg ( the empty bar ) x 8 x 4

Not too bad. We were supposed to use an EZ Curl Bar for this, but I don't have one, so I used my regular bar.

LTE:

20 kg x 5 x 2
25 x 5
30 kg x 15
30 x 12 + 3
30 x 10 + 5
30 x 7 + 5 + 4

Yeah, my arms had pretty much stopped working by now.

Pretty good day!

No tricep went unpunished! I like OHP, and 'More OHP'. That some cool accessorizing.

"Semi-Deload Week"

SQ:
20 kg x 5 x 5
50 x 5
75 x 3
100 x 1
118 kg x 8 x 3

Then Andy had programmed a lot of GPP stuff that I didn't feel like doing,
so instead I did some light close grip bench.

CGBP:
20 kg x 5 x 2
40 x 5
55 x 3
69 kg x 6 x 4

That was it for today. Nice and easy.

I could do that the next time I try the front squat.

Press day - still "semi-deload" week.

BP:
20 kg x 5 x 5
40 x 5
55 x 3
69 x 1
82 kg x 8 x 3 @ 8 or so.
This was all right.

OHP:
20 kg x 5 x 2
30 x 5
40 x 3
47.5 x 1
52.5 kg x 8 x 3 @ 8.5 - 9
Not too bad.

CGBP:
70 kg x 6 x 4 @ 7 - 7.5
Nice and easy.

Pretty good day.
