Who powerlifts?
Who here powerlifts? When is your next meet? What are your current best lifts and total?
I'll start 518/308/639/1427t .. I don't have a meet picked out but I'm eyeballing a couple that have openings about 6-8 weeks out.

Re: Who powerlifts?
I recently did my first powerlifting meet. I did several "strengthlifting" meets before that.
Results:
Squat: 247.5 / 257.5 / 267.5 (546 / 568 / 590)
Bench: 160 / 170 / 175 (miss) (353 / 375 / 386x)
Deadlift: 237.5 / 250 / 257.5 (524 / 551 / 568)
Total: 695 (1543#)
BW: 110kg (242#)
Wilks: 409.01
No meets scheduled at this point. Feel like I need a break.

Re: Who powerlifts?
I'll be doing my first meet at the end of October (the Fall Classic... technically "strengthlifting" which is admittedly a stupid name). I've been wanting to do a local powerlifting meet but they're always on a Saturday and I'm a wedding photographer so that doesn't work out very well for me. This was the only meet coming up in 2017 that I was available for so I signed up. There seem to be some local meets in my area during the spring each year though so I'm going to keep an eye out for one of those to do an actual PL meet, with bench press and everything.

Re: Who powerlifts?
My best meet to date was the USAPL Juggernaut Winter Open.
Squat: 107.5 /112.5 /115 (237/248/254)
Bench: 50/ 52.5/ 55 (110/116/121)
Deadlift: 130/ 142.5/ 155 (286/314/342)
Total: 325 kg @ 61.09 kg bw (717 @ 134.7)
Wilks: 357.34
I've also competed in 2 "strengthlifting" meets. Heaviest lifts were
2017 Starting Strength Spring Challenge
Squat 108/ 115/ 117
Press 42/43/44
Deadlift 130/140/150
Total 311 kg @ 65.5 kg
Wilks 329
I'm signed up for the USAPL NorCal Open Winter Classic in December. I'm also signed up for the USSF Fall Classic. But.... I'm coming off an off-season riddled with injuries both minor and major, so meets are just for fun.

Re: Who powerlifts?
I lift in the local IPF affiliate (Powerlifting Australia)
have done 3 meets, one under 120kg, 2 over (because fuck water cutting)
last meet I went 207.5/125/220 (1215 total in imperial measurements)
My biggest issue is always eating on meet day - the place where I compete usually runs a tight, fast meet, and I hate lifting on a full stomach.
on the upside the medals you get have a jacked kangaroo squatting

Re: Who powerlifts?
I did my first meet in January of this year, the Camp Pendleton Open, which is a USPA meet.
My best lifts from that day were a 341/275/451. I went 9/9.
My most recent meet was in August, the Juggernaut Summer Showdown, a USAPL event. I think I'm going to stick with the USAPL moving forward.
My best lifts that day were 402/292/507. I went 8/9 (missed my 308 bench).
When is my next meet? Who knows. I did 3 meets this year and it might have been a little too much (the other was Boss of Norcal in May). It's exhausting.

I'm just one of posers who vivaciously reads all things powerlifting and posts on r/powerlifting but doesn't actually compete.

Why not sign up? They're a lot of fun. It's just expensive to pay for federation memberships, meet fees, approved singlets/belts/wraps/etc.silachoo wrote:I'm just one of posers who vivaciously reads all things powerlifting and posts on r/powerlifting but doesn't actually compete.

Re: Who powerlifts?
Well, to some of us fun means waking up early, not eating, standing around for an hour waiting to have equipment checked, weighing in, gorging on food and dehydrating, trying to figure what to eat during the day and when, eating too much or not enough, dealing with bad or questionable judge calls, feeling beat up at the end of the day and realizing you still have an hour and a half drive back home. How is that not fun?!simonrest wrote:this is an obvious lie.d0uevenlift wrote:

I've done 2 meets in the last... 5 years? Mostly, I do meets so I can tell people I "train for powerlifting." Which justifies the fact that I don't look like I lift, even though I spend a lot of time lifting. Also, this way I can pretend to not care about asthetics.

Re: Who powerlifts?
I think a lot of people that moved over from the old forum powerlift currently or at least did a couple of meets in the past.
My best total was 1708. I really sand bagged my squat (good for 20-30 more lbs), and my shoulder was injured so I benched conservatively.
I have a meet coming up in December (Illinois Raw Power Challenge) where I will try to hit 1700 again, but this time w/o knee wraps. I am competing in a knee wrap division, but I am just going to wear sleeves. The APF is odd, because their raw division actually allows nothing on your knees. The classic raw division is knee wraps or sleeves. Eventually I would like to move to the USPA, since I walk all my squats out in training anyways.

Powerlifter here. Best meet total is 1659. Best numbers 573 in sleeves in USAPL /474 paused in USPA /628 with deadlift bar. Most proud of that 573.
Next meet is in December in Northeast Philly at the USAPL Philadelphia Love Championships.

Re: Who powerlifts?
What's up nerds.
I've got a meet in about two weeks. I compete at 66kg (145.5), best lifts in meets at 190/110/215 (418/242/474) and best gym lifts are 192.5/115/225 (424/253/496). Hopefully won't shit the bed at Nationals.

Re: Who powerlifts?
Compete in the BDFPA (in the UK), done probably 10 meets in the last 3.5 years including a couple overseas.
Best lifts - raw, bare knees - are:
- Squat - 601 / 272.5kg
- Bench - 364 / 165kg (have done 397 / 180kg paused in the gym)
- Deadlift - 568 / 257.5kg
Probably not going to compete again until next summer now

Are you competing in the October competition in Surrey? It's being hosted at my gym by a friend of mine

I'm fat. It's more a weak bench and deadlift.Kregna wrote:DeriHughes wrote:That's a strong squat

Unfortunately not - I'm pretty detrained at the moment and we have 3 week old twins so getting my head together to compete any time soon isn't going to work. I'm currently planning on just doing Nationals next July but we'll see. Considering a GBPF bench-only meet in the meantime.

Re: Who powerlifts?
Competed in a couple scrub-class meets run by MCCS in Okinawa weighing in at at 218 and 187 in 2013-2014. Best total there was
345 bench
500 deadlift
405 squat
(The lifts really were in that order, and they didn't use pause on bench; scrub-class.)
Competed again in 2015 in USPA in California in the 82.5 kg weight class. Weighed in at 79ish kilos. Qualified for nationals with:
Squat - 175 (385)
Bench - 135 (297)
Deadlift - 242.5 (534)
Went 5/9
At nationals I weighed in at 82 kg and got:
Squat - 202.5 (446)
Bench - 147.5 (325)
Deadlift - 235 (518)
Most recently, I competed in USPA in Maryland in the 90 kg class. Weighed in at 84 kg and got:
Squat - 182.5 (402)
Bench - 145 (319)
Deadlift - 235 (518)
Competing again in November, but currently nursing a grumpy back.
