Mini chat

#1

Post by Igor » Sun Feb 25, 2018 5:34 am

It has been a feature on a different forum (completely unrelated to lifting) that I used to visit quite often. They were also using phpBB software. The chat itself was located on the main page (only registered users could see it).

I think it would be a nice addition to have here.

@Manveer @Igor
This one is for 3.2: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... extension/

Do we want this? Could be fun, but I'm afraid content would get lost and it's probably better to discuss stuff in the forums.

Personally I don’t understand the value. OTOH if a lot of people want it, anyone who doesn’t can opt out in user preferences.

I’d rather leave it out.

I'd opt out of it. Good content would get lost, and bad content would breed at an exponential rate.

Doesn't it feature an archive that stores all messages sent in the chat?

Yeah I think keeping everything in the forum is best for us.
