) I've seen seems to say that it's linear from 50% to 100% (on average, may be important...).
I do think it's a practice thing. Lots of doubles at 85%, singles at 90-95%+, etc. It's gets very tricky to manage fatigue with lots of practice at these intensities, though.
Be very skeptical of the nice neat research data. I think there's some serious fudging going on.

doubles at 85%
GTFOH with that nonsense. Single @8 + singles @85% are the
Gold Standard™ for Power day. Disagree? Fite me 1v1 irl or change my mind.

Yeah? Working awesome for you?
Edit: I'm not talking about optimizing a single Power Day. I'm talking about peaking. I don't think most people can do that with a single session's worth of heavy-ass practice.

Sorry for the semi-serious shitposting bro, but doubles @85% would leave me really drained and you already mentioned it would be hella tricky to manage the fatigue generated from all that #weightonthebarmatters.

I've been doing triples and (now followed by doubles) after top single @8 for the past 6+ weeks for my strength day. Everything's been going well except for bench, which might be seeing too much volume.

I've been handling all of the heavy triples and doubles well, but what really fried me was the Sheiko staggered set day the other week. That almost buried me.

The most polarizing of sessions.

I handled the staggered set day just fine.
My legs get sore from strength day squats, but with two days off after that I usually blast through hypertrophy day without a problem.

I had the same sort of experience with bench. I'm sure it would be harder for me to recover from anything squat/DL related. But I did 4 sets of triples and 2 sets of doubles for bench at 82% and it felt fast. The staggered sets have be drained by the end. But I imagine it is good to do things on both ends of the spectrum to maximize gains.

Yes, the staggered sets that I tried for presses fried me as well. Not sure I'll be doing them again but I liked the idea of them.

After 4 weeks of my made-up copycat of the MM I hit:
-20lb squat PR (475)
-5lb bench PR (275)
-12lb deadlift PR (475)
This is coming back to training after spending 5 months running a cardio/endurance block and losing 10lbs. I was doing a bench program for a month before this though. Also my "peaking" involved getting the flu, missing a couple of training sessions and deciding to max out on a whim.
Squat PR is a bit misleading because I probably should have hit a 10lb PR at least at my meet last November, but I was dumb about attempt selection.
Anyways I'm a fan of this set-up. Solid results considering circumstances and that I'm just a copycat.

I forgot to say congrats on the PRs. It's actually neat (not for you) to see you got the flu and still did well - demonstrates the adaptability of the program/SORAT.

What are you guys doing when the program calls for the "accessory, lifter's choice" ?

I usually throw in some variation of ab work, like hanging leg raises. Depends on the week, though. I'll check what I have scheduled in DUP blocks, or supplemental pulling (RDLS, SGDLs) and then try to fill in with something that's not being hit.

Just a quick note: I'll be going on a programming bender tomorrow, so if you've wrapped up a cycle this week, you'll see the next posted tomorrow.
Send me a note on Fitbot if you plan on competing in the Exodus meet. I can work a peak into the cycle if you'd like

Mostly ab work here too. Cable crunches or decline sit-ups. Occasionally I’ll change it up though.

Alright, y'all.
I'm closing down for new peeps. I've got to implement lessons learned from the last ~ 3 months, refine the process for customization of "stress-dose", overhaul workflow, build a website, get some content out, etc.
Thanks!
