Name my new Dawg

We are getting a German shorthair pointer.
We don't know if we're getting a male or female yet.
If male, the 10 yo boy and I get to name it.
We (I) intend to use for bird hunting...

What are some cool names?

For instance, Jaeger in German means Hunter.

You want it to be emotionally strong if it will be used as a working/hunting dog.

I'm generally not a fan of anthropomorphic names. Seriously, who names a dog William? Anyways, that being said, my inlaw's dog's name is Gus. Single syllable made it easy for teaching commands and getting his attention.

They say 2 syllable names are better than one, for dog names. Also apparently you're supposed to avoid certain soft sounds...? So the dog can better hear it's name. I dunno, I gave my dog a stupid name because he's a stupid (and wonderful and amazing) dog.

Frunobulax.

Also: Stains. Just so you have to yell "Come Stains!" Out your back door.

Tater
Hoss
Fred

I'd stay away from names that sound like "No" such as Bo or Odin.
