Re: Airdyne
I just did :10 | 1:50 x 7 (for 87 cal.) on the Assault Bike as a way back in. I'll add a second to the work intervals incrementally. Just 10 seconds and it was hard getting up the stairs after. These things are torture devices.
I wonder how the old Ad4's were marketed in the 80s. Surely they weren't pushing anything like HIIT. Did they think people would just peddle slowly on them? I guess everyone bought them and hardly anyone used them.

Re: Airdyne
Rogue just launched an Assault Bike clone:

The seat looks more adjustable. It's belt, not chain driven. It weighs 46 pounds more!!! Good luck getting that down stairs.

I looked into this a bit. Apparently with an adapter, you can put a regular bike seat on it. I might do the same thing.

Re: Airdyne
I replaced the seat with a proper bike seat I bought on Amazon. I was able to adjust it backwards just a little by attaching the post near the front of the seat rails, but that only get me an inch or so. The geometry of the setup is crap. I feel ya.
