Re: Forum issues
I have a thread there as a placeholder, in case later on I want to use my lifts as a rhetorical point. We can edit indefinitely, so I'll go back and put in some big numbers. Then when someone is Wrong About A Thing, I can point out that I lift more than them as evidenced by my Log, thereby Winning.

Quoting posts with images is broken. It'll just say
where the image should be.

Re: Forum issues
Ok, try to quote this post and it'll happen. I don't know what the difference is.

It's an attached image, that's why.unruhschuh wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2017 2:51 pm Ok, try to quote this post and it'll happen. I don't know what the difference is.
First google result turned this up: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... &t=2180668
Maybe we should just disable attachments...

Re: Forum issues
I actually like attachments for important images, that shouldn't get lost once imgur goes offline. A post of spacedrivers epic physics thread's caliber would be destroyed.

There's browser extensions that do the job, possibly even for the Edge.Allentown wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2017 6:39 am I know there is a very low chance, but, is there a profanity filter I can enable on my end? Because threads keep getting blocked by my work firewall. I have to assume it scans the page content and flags profanity? Ugh. Annoying. Also, I have to use IE 11 and cannot install any software.
However, they probably wouldn't work, because the page will already have been sent through your work firewall before the swears are redacted by the extension on your machine. I'd guess you'd need to have them be filtered by the server sending them through your firewall.

Re: Forum issues
phpbb (the forum software) has the ability to enable censoring, but it then becomes the defacto mode and you have to jump through some hoops to allow users to then opt-out of the censorship.
Funny thing, is the censorship is really just a find and replace, so you could for instance, set up filters which actually increase profanity.

Re: Forum issues
SSL is probably the answer to both why SS wasn't tripping the filter, and how to stop ES tripping it. Your work IT guys probably don't bother to filter SSL (as I don't bother here either) since it's a bit of a pain having to install/trust an intermediate cert on all of the client devices.
If Hostgator doesn't support LetsEncrypt (haven't investigated but they probably do) there is also StartSSL for free certs, but a single domain SSL cert is pretty cheap anyway.

They are not users, those are default accounts for the search engine spider bots, you can set up accounts for these to control them with forum permissions as will as optimising indexing of your board.
