Slept terribly last night, and really I should have pushed this session to tomorrow. However, went for it anyway. Used some shred of common sense and only took 210kg for the top single. And then........ I managed to get 180kg for the full 5x5! It was seriously tough though, I was taking 5 minutes between sets, at least. Weirdly my 4th set was my best one in terms of form. Felt a lot more in control, down and up instead of down and goodmorning-fuck-fuck-fuck-please go-up.
Skipped High Bar Pause Squats and Monsterwalks, I had nothing left at the end.

Well heres a crap update. My health seems to have taken a nose dive since the 16th May. Mega fatigue and fever, hardly sleeping. Did some blood, pee, poop tests at the hospital, doctors arent really sure whats causing it, but possibly an infection with my liver - my ALT and AST were really high. However theres also some cardiac markers as well. Doctors are a bit stumped and want me to spend 7 days to get tested at the hospital - no thanks.
Whats really odd is that my liver was 100% fine in a health check i did in January.
I was wondering if it was rhabdo, but i have zero protein or blood in my urine. Theyve given me a bunch of meds to take, so im going to see what effect they have and then do more blood tests to see if things have calmed a bit.
My other weird theory is that it is linked to the mega diarrhea i had a few weeks back. Maybe my body was still weak and I picked up an infection, or perhaps i never recovered and training hard made my body fuck itself up, sweat out all my minerals, over exertion, something something.

I wouldn't think this would be training related since you have a long training history and don't usually get ill from it.

So ive been trying to rest as much as possible and been taking the medicine, plus plenty of gatorade and hydration salts. I feel 100x better now. Im still not sure what caused it, but my other new theory is that it was a combination of fever, which in turn made my already poor sleep bad, which then made the fever and fatigue worse due to lack of recovery. I may or may notdo some.more blood tests on thursday, but imfeeling normal again. Hopefully i canresume lifting again next week.

Maybe I wont be back training just yet. I do feel a lot better but Im getting occaisional moments of extreme fatigue, my heartrate goes up and i'll just sweat tons. My sleep is 1000x better and generally i feel ok, but i would really like to get this thing figured out. Havent had time to get back in the hospital for follow up tests yet, maybe in the next week or two.
I am tempted to just get in and lift the empty bar, just for sonething to do.

Shit. That sounds like a whole lot of noise no one would want to deal with. Glad to hear you're feeling better. Did your sleep get bad out of nowhere?
Also, the whole gut illness could well have fucked you around just as you think it might. When I got myocarditis the cardiologist told me it was most likely from the GI bug I got a few days prior.

Yeah its been a right mess around. My sleep slowly got worse and worse over time. I was waking up to piss every two hours, as well as having apnea like episodes - waking up with slamming heart rate and drenched in sweat. My theory is still leaning towards it being linked to the diarrhea I had, some sort of bacteria lingering longer than it should. But then again, i had a bunch of cardiac markers and liver markers which dont really align with that. Its all very odd. Hopefully further blood tests will show if things have settled down, and if others havent settled down then perhaps thats whats causing it? Who bloody knows.

That was something that I was going to do. However, due to being ill, lack of training and cutting back calories because of it, ive actually dropped a bit of weight. Ive gone from 112kg to 108.8kg, and my sleep is way better. I remember historically my sleep always got worse the closer i got to 110kg. Obviously its not a set in stone magic number, but i think sticking in a slightly lower range is best long term.

Soooo....
This log is becoming more of an update on how wrecked my body is, rather than any training. Its all the same thing, sort of.
I had blood tests amd urine tests yesterday. Urine, was all good. No blood, protein, nothing. All good there.
Blod test showed some odd stuff. My liver markers are wayyyy down, so thats a slight relief but they are still very high over the normal range. However, considering my ALT was on 206 and now its on 135, ill take it. Hopefully the downward trend continues.
My cardiac markers though, are where it gets very odd. Myoglobin was sky high two weeks ago, and now its only 3 ng/ml outside of normal range. That is good. However my troponin and CK-MB have gotten higher. Shit, thats not good.
Doctors have no idea whats causing it, but doctors here in KM arent great. Ive been speaking to a foreign doctor working in SH and he thinks it may be some sort of Myocarditis, but the liver thing and the fact that some things are massively improving and others are worsening are leaving hin stumped (hes doing this via messaging for free, so cant blame him, hes just going off data).
So yeah, no idea whats actually wrong. Maybe myocarditis, maybe not. I do feel way better.
I very very want to go lift. Ill have to leave it another week though I think.

Sorry to hear about this health shitshow, hope you bounce back soon!
If you're feeling up to it, maybe backing intensity way down and going through the motions might help scratch the iron itch while you're on the mend...

Very tentatively, I am back to training! Going to just do what I want for a bit, try to get back in the swing of things. I feel like my strength is wayyyy down, but thats not really surprising after a month of illness and no training.
