Things seem to have recovered pretty well already. Amazing what not being stupid can do.

Anyhow, 330x10 was a nice set. Not 405x10 like years ago but things are good. I could’ve probably pulled a few more reps, but I had done enough work.

Chugging along quite nicely. Nice bounce back on the quad, too!

Thanks!

Amazing what not burning myself out during a session will do.

Slowing things down a bit today. While I’m thinking to myself how I’m saving some for Friday, it’s still conscious that I’m pulling a weeks worth of volume on a lift that supposedly kills the CNS or creates too much fatigue to recover from.

I think a lot of low volume recommendations, such as the infamous one set of five per week, are silly. That said, I also think that trap bar and conventional are different animals in this regard, and that it makes a difference whether that set is an actual 5RM on that day. Back when I deadlifted (conventionally, and poorly, I admit), I could hit singles - even very heavy singles - multiple times per week, but when I tried to run up 5s (meaning ome top set of 5) that very quickly became not funny.

You have a good point. Konstantin (RIP) did a lot of his volume with trap bar. Maybe it’s because conventional barbell deadlifts are dumb.

Even so, when I didn’t have the trap bar, I was starting to rack up volume with sumo.

That’s been my view for a bit, although I do enjoy them. I more quit because my main gym isn’t conducive. I was second guessing myself after yesterday’s first KB swing session demonstrated my weak hinge, but then my second thought was that I could just be less of a pussy with RDLs and that would suffice.

I’ve literally never done a single rep sumo. One of those things that I just always looked at and knew that I wasn’t capable. I’m not being self-deprecating. I just have a pretty good idea of my limitations.

Not bad. Monday was alright too. Getting back on the indomethacin does wonders for pain mitigation.

Good to see people logging. Any movement is beneficial.

Without naming them, there are a dozen or so guys who lurk every day, often more than once per day, and say nothing. I presume that they read the logs, because there isn’t enough activity elsewhere to justify checking in as often as they do. It would be great if they’d start some logs themselves. Perhaps one or more of them will see this and consider it. Unless one enjoys writing more as some of us do, it takes a mere minute to cut and paste from wherever one writes down one’s sessions elsewhere (in my case, the Notes app).

Yeah, I don’t put a lot of time to it myself. I decided to quasi start again to stay a little more accountable and manage my trajectory while sharing my lessons with other old men.

500 is on the horizon but not today’s horizon.

Silly stuff like my hand strength seems to be coming online again now. There’s some weird system lag that seems to occur as I age. Anyway, feels good to cosplay being strong.
