Glad to hear it wasn't a situation you couldn't type about so soon afterwards.

Yeah ignore that I was just being a wuss because I had a bad workout. Going to move some stuff around and schedule sessions every other day. Also dropping amraps in favor of just doing sets till I don't feel like doing more.

Re: Not to change the Subject but
I’m too lazy to search it myself but a few years ago @Testiclaw went on a rant distinguishing Pendlays from some other form(s?) of rowing from the floor.
Generally, though, yeah, but I think there’s also much more of an emphasis on power / jacking the weight up at
top speed, which you can’t do with standard hanging rows without fucking your lower back.

Re: Not to change the Subject but
I wouldn't say that any row that's paused on the floor is a Pendlay Row. There are a few other things that distinguish them from other rows as well (in addition to what DanCR already mentioned).
- Your back should be parallel to the floor (or at least very near parallel)
- There's no eccentric (weight is dropped from the top)
Definitely wouldn't get hung up on the details though. I don't think anyone here is going to care if you're doing something a little different, but still calling it a Pendlay Row.

Re: Not to change the Subject but
Why is there no eccentric phase? I've heard about this with this exercise before, but for me, the eccentric part always works, especially if I want to shorten my workout because it tires my muscles faster.Clearwater47 wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 9:08 am I wouldn't say that any row that's paused on the floor is a Pendlay Row. I'm with you on that.
I'm sure there's a reason for it, but I have no idea what it is.

Re: Not to change the Subject but
I may be wrong but I believe that the reason is because the original point was to be a power movement for deadlift assistance. It wasn’t intended for back hypertrophy.Clearwater47 wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 3:04 pmI'm with you on that.

ETA: Bald Omni-Man was talking recently on his channel about why he likes rowing from the floor, and he does use a controlled eccentric. He didn’t refer to them as Pendlays, though, IIRC.

I think is a good reason, but not anybody wants to works power movement, most who go to the gym do it to look better and implicitly for hypertrophyDanCR wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 3:15 pmI may be wrong but I believe that the reason is because the original point was to be a power movement for deadlift assistance. I don't know about no eccentric but I lowered them pretty fast because I'm lazy and I generally bend over more so I can row it to higher up because rowing to my belly is such a short ROM its pointless.Clearwater47 wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 9:08 am I wouldn't say that any row that's paused on the floor is a Pendlay Row. B. Split Squats

Re: Not to change the Subject but
I'll have to watch that tonight.
Slept like crap. Woke up at 3am and kept trying to force myself to sleep but I'd wake up every ten minutes finally just got up at four. Dropped back offs and only did one set of RDLs.
6-0-0 Tempo Deadlift
225*3
235*3
250*3
Last set was supposed to be 245 but I forgot to pull off the 5 on the right, just thought my grip was off set.
15° Incline
185*4
195*4
205*4
RDL
215*12
Edit: it was also a 93 heat index and 90% humidity at four in the morning
