7-day: ??? & ???
Comp Squat (S)
405 x 1 @ 9
TnG Bench (H)

175 x 5 @ 8
Lat Pulldown (H)
143 x 10 @ 7,7.5
143 x 8 @ 9
Lat Pullover Machine
100 x 10 @7.5,9
100 x 6 @ 8
Session Length
0:58
Notes
Worked up to my supposed opener on squat today; it was harder than it probably should have been, but I'm tired and light. I may do it again on Thursday to get some practice in.
I'm looking forward to this meet being over; my training started out well but fell to pieces over the last month. I'm going to focus on hypertrophy mostly, but I want to go after a 230kg deadlift, which would be the state record in my age/weight class.

Re: Training
I think that's a good idea. Whatever little bit of fatigue it adds is worth the confidence boost.
Hope you still have fun. The few meets that I've done, I'm always left feeling like I don't want to think or talk about meets for a very long time afterward. Even when they go great.I'm looking forward to this meet being over; my training started out well but fell to pieces over the last month.

Re: Training
I agree; it'll be more a mental thing than anything.
I will; I really like participating in meets, and it's always a good experience. I also usually get amped up for another one when it's over although I always take time off.Hope you still have fun. This time, I want to focus on getting bigger and stronger rather than thinking or prepping for an upcoming meet. I'd like to get back up to 200 pounds without fatfucking myself... again. I still want to compete in the future, but I think taking a break from competition is the smart decision.

Re: alek’s log
Long time, no log...
The meet is this coming Saturday, but I'm not expecting much in terms of performance. The biceps tendonopathy is still around, which is limiting my bench, and possibly squat. Surprisingly, it doesn't bother my deadlift.
Went on vacation during the kids' spring break. Went to several National Parks in Arizona, which was awesome. I'm still tired from the trip, and between that tiredness, the tendonopathy, and general life stuff, training has suuuuucked.
I've also decided to take a long break from competing, certainly at least a year, maybe two. I've been so focused on peaking my strength, but I think the best thing I can do is focus on getting bigger and stronger; hence the goal of getting back to 200 pounds without fat fucking myself. So starting Monday, I'm going to bodybuild it up in this bitch. I'll do much of the same stuff I was doing last October/November--a 4-day U/L split. I'll still do some strength focused work, but it'll be on secondary movements rather than the comp movements, which will likely include SSB squat, feet up bench, and deficit deadlift.
I'll try to log more, and I'm way behind on keeping up with others' logs. Sorry, my dudes. I'm rooting for you.

I predict that the results of this will be spectacular.

We're all closet bodybuilders, we just have trouble counting above 5 and trouble catching our breath after any set where we lost count...best of luck to you; I'm conflicted by a desire to get hyuge and to lose weight, and sport some snazzy abs. They do not mesh well. Hopefully my bicep stops being a stupid bitch and we thirstily watch each other doing our curls.

My dude. You're getting me all riled up about this and I think I might intentionally bulk for the first time in a while.
How will you define fatfucking? Right now I walk around with my top 4-ish abs visible at 34" waist circumference, 190 pounds. I will absolutely lose the abs by 200#, but I gotta gotta gotta stay below 36" on the waist. You?
I'm thinking something like gaining 2# per month.

Thanks, man. I'd watch you do curls any day... or chinups shirtless.EricK wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 5:10 pm We're all closet bodybuilders, we just have trouble counting above 5 and trouble catching our breath after any set where we lost count...best of luck to you; I'm conflicted by a desire to get hyuge and to lose weight, and sport some snazzy abs. That's a good question about fatfucking. I last weighed 200 pounds on December 13, 2018, according to an old Google Sheet I have. On that day, my umbilicus was 36.75", but I don't know if that's accurate or if I measure my umbilicus the same way as I did then. I was also cutting at the time, so that may also skew the measurement.
Right now, I'm about 188 with a 35" umbilicus--I measure it around my navel rather than the one or two inches above the navel. I think that's where I'm biggest around, and I like measuring there since it's always a consistent place of measurement regardless of how big/small my gut gets. I'm not as lean as I was at the beginning of the year when I was still cutting/just finishing a cut.
I'd like to take two weeks to clean up my diet--Costco pizza and hotdog and soda for dinner tonight--and start then. That should give me the time to get good base measurements before bulking.
I'd say that I would continue to gain weight unless/until my 7-day umbilicus measurement reached 37". Actually probably less though. I need to be disciplined, so let's go with 36.5" for now.

4th Meet
Checked in Friday evening.
Openers projected to be 180/100/195.
Weighed in at 84.03; I was 88 last meet.
It’s funny. We still have an hour before lifting starts, but I’m starting to wonder if the meet director will have another meet this fall that I can do. I believe that I need a break from competition, but the pull to do it is strong.
And… I just asked her. I’m so predictable. First or second weekend of October.
1st squat: 180; 3 whites
2nd squat: 187.5; 3 whites
3rd squat: 202.5; 3 reds
1st bench: 100; 3 whites
2nd bench: 105; 3 whites; no biceps pain so far, which is great. Those 2 Aleve prior to lifting may have done that.
3rd bench: 110; 3 whites; no pain. Super happy.
1st deadlift: 195; 3 whites
2nd deadlift: 205; 3 whites
3rd deadlift: 215; 3 reds
Total: 502.5; 336.907 dots

Re: 4th Meet
You still summer bulkin?
Also, congrats on completing the meet. It's cool that bench went well, but it's also good to know you left everything you had on the platform for squat and deadlift. I always had weird feelings when I knew I could have lifted more but played it safe.

Re: 4th Meet
Yes! Even though I feel the call of the wild, this meet only reinforced my belief about needing a break.
I’ll start now as well rather than saying give me two weeks—I just need to be careful about not eating super fatty pizza a couple times a week.
