Hacksquat/leg press or leg extension/curl machine
Looking to add to the home gym and to work my muscles differently. Trying to decide on one or the other. Which would you buy? They are both 10% off the listed prices (in canadian pesos)

Re: Hacksquat/leg press or leg extension/curl machine
I'm no equipment guru by any stretch, but if I had to pick one or other...
It's a whole lot easier to rig up something with minimal equipment for leg curls and leg extensions.
Whatever might be necessary to rig up a leg press-style setup may not be worth the time or effort, and barbell hack squats are ... not fun, in my opinion.
I'd vote for the leg press.

Both look pretty sweet.
You have an SSB and a trap bar right? That kinda helps with compound variations so maybe the leg curl/extension machine?
Personally I could go either way, but I’d probably default to the leg press if you think it’s proper quality. It looks like it’s solid.

They seem pretty solid with 10/11 gauge steel. The leg press is rated for 1500+ pounds which is more than I would ever use. Plus they have a sale on with 10% off the 10% off prices already listed so they are 20 % off right now. I asked about a black friday sale and they said this is it at 20% off.

Re: Hacksquat/leg press or leg extension/curl machine
Went with the leg press/hack squat - $2k all in with taxes and shipping - Christmas gift for the family as we all use the gym.
Since almost all exercise equipment comes from China now, I had a look on Ali Baba for the leg curl machine and found a matching model. With exchange, shipping, brokerage fees, import fees, etc. I can get one for maybe $1100-1200 all in. It would take a couple months to get here as well.
I'll put the leg press in the gym and see how much room is left as that will make things pretty tight. Maybe next year I'll spring for the leg curl machine from China as well if I can find room.

This is super nerdy. Doesn’t matter. I think you made the right choice on exercise machines.Skid wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 3:48 pm They seem pretty solid with 10/11 gauge steel. But I wanted to say that 10% off and then another 10% off isn’t 20% off. It’s 19% off.
The second 10% off is going to be 10% off of 90%, since the first ten percent was already taken off. (So, 10% + 9%.)
You probably already know and you were rounding up. This is just the pedant in me.

Definitely not smarter. But I’m very likely cheaper!Skid wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 9:42 amThe truth of it is, you are much smarter than me! I’m already calculating the price points at which I’ll act on both Ironmaster dumbbells as well as multiple adjustable benches come Black Friday.
