Nope. It's great and we rewatch it a couple of times per year. I even went and saw it when they showed it on the Intrepid for the 30th anniversary I think?

We talking about RRR?

Kind of a semi-historical Bollywood John Wick/King Fu Hustle situation. Waaaaaaay over the top. I loved it. Very cheesy, and one needs a chain fall to suspend their disbelief. But if you’re willing to do the (pardon the pun) heavy lifting it’s totally worth it.

Can't decide whether I want to drive 30 mins to watch Avatar 2.

I thought the screenplay of the first one was terrible but the 3D was very good. Feels like it will be the same again and I'm not sure if it's worth it...

re:Avatar2: We went to it last night. The 3d was pretty cool, and it was obvious they shot the movie to amp up the 3d effect as much as possible.

But in general, didn't like the movie. First half if really cool, if a bit slow. 2nd half is derivative action movie, the type with all the scenes as zoomed in as possible, tons of jerky quick shots, and I'm just over that shit.

It’s probably bad that I want Avatar 2 to fail, but I thought the first one sucked, probably because I didn’t see it in the theater.

Based on what I’m reading online in regards to critical response, this sounds like it’s the same: if you don’t see it in the theater, it’s nothing of interest.

Watched Weird on the weekend. As a closet Weird Al fan I'd been looking forward to it.

Honestly it probably met expectations, but it was no cinematic masterpiece. A sort of charming and at times quite funny movie.

Was stuck on airplane for several hours.

Top Gun was somewhere between OK and good. I didn't think the jet/plane scenes were realistic at all ....well, not nearly as much as some (purported experts?) who said they were. I thought it was lame/cheesey goose jr. tried to be a carbon copy of his dad in appearance, etc .

Also saw Thor 2 Love and Thunder.....couldve of a been a good movie....but they tried too hard to make it funny to 12 year olds. IDK , I don't think I'll ever be able to pay money and invest the effort to watch another Marvel movie in the theater.

Also saw Morbius.....IDK, I didn't think it was as bad ....as bad as the bad reviews it got.

We went over Top Gun a while ago. I found the whole experience kind of... weird. To me it felt like in some essential way it was not a real movie.

But not in the sense that it was 'soulless' like a typical bad commercially inspired sequel. It was more that it was so blatantly intended to be a complement to the first movie, which didn't need a complement at all because it was kind of perfect in its way.

I did like the last half hour or so.

Saw Avatar 2 in the cinema with my better half this afternoon. 3D films may appeal to some purely for the visual immersion though an absence of a coherent plot and the atrocious dialogue were all too apparent.

It was 2 for 1 Tuesdays yet I still feel ripped off.

I finally got around to seeing Avatar 2. As others have said, the story, plot, characters were blah, and the movie was an hour too long, but the cinematic experience was still pretty amazing. I've never felt as immersed in a movie before, and if it weren't for the characters being weirdly tall and lanky blue aliens, I'd have felt like it was real, and that I was there. I probably will never watch the movie outside of a theater, since the HFR and the 3D is what makes the movie so great, but I'd highly recommend going for the experience.

This popped up on my podcast feed today.

I’m just here to remind you that Gremlins 2 is -
1) a perfect 10/10 movie
2) out-meta-ing Scream 6 years before Scream came out
3) still seems weirdly topical

ETA 4) part of the end of the 80s sequelitis that was reset by the 90s indie film. Hopefully Gremlins 3 triggers the next sequel die off and indie film resurgence

I love that super sophisticated Gremlin who wore the smoking jacket.

Outstanding film.

I finally saw this movie again about two years ago, passively watching while working on a social studies project.

Before then, I'd only seen it once when I was five or six. So much of it went over my head back then.

All I could remember from my childhood viewing was a gremlin in a hot pink dress.

It was really hard (...) not having the words to explain or understand what I was feeling.

Thank you for having the bravery so say that out loud. Because... me too.

Butter face

Evil Dead Rise was fucking fun...

Against my better judgement I let my young kids watch it with me (after I watched it through). It was worth it for their reaction to the
SpoilerShow
cheese grater
scene alone.

Bruce Campbell cameo was expertly done as well...

Sisu was a pretty good time, although I’m definitely biased as someone whose grandparents were immigrants from Finland and who grew up in an area where that was the norm. Basically “Finnish John Wick” with Nazis for bad guys.

On Netflix I watch Don't Look Up.

Its pretty much a mix of the the movies Armageddon and Idiocracy (but in the near future/present, instead of the far future).

It was somewhat funny at times.

I enjoyed The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

Nic Cage. Great fun.
